"Far Cry 3 is Skyrim with guns"

This was the quote from one of Far Cry 3's best reviews... and it unintentionally highlights how misplaced is it to consider Skyrim to be an RPG. Medieval Fantasy Action-Adventure. I just hope that the next SP ES game will be an RPG, because that's where the series has the potential to shine the most.

I like the Far Cry 3 slogan. My guess it means the Far Cry world be a sandbox world where you can do anything and be anything. Sounds good to me, I think I will buy it.

I was at work ( GameStop ) when I saw that commercial, and I just laughed. When another game compares itself to another it just seems like it really needs the attention. Like when Two Worlds called itself ' Oblivion on Stereoids ' ... and maaaaan.. Was that ever so opposite.

Skyrim is an RPG. I think you are reading way too much into a reviewer's remark. Its intended to make the reader think, "Oh, I like Skyrim... I like guns... I'll definitely like this!" when in reality the only similarity really (As far as I can tell), is that they are both open world.

So in that respect, it would be just as accurate (if not outright misleading) to say something like... "Grand Theft Auto is like Skyrim... but with cars!" or "Minecraft is like Skyrim... but you can build n stuff!".
