FARM Life - Settler Handbook

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 12:11 am

Hello Ladies and Gentelman!
Not so long ago i started my own settlement on Lakeview Manor, near Riverwood.
As i build small house for the start, i had build a small farm too.
Despite my horrible english :) , i want to ask more experienced settlers around here a few questions!

First of all, if i plant for example a Wheat, how can i remove it and plant something else in that place?

Next one

Where and how i can get CLAY for my building site.

And small tip from me: Try to use mod Tundra Defence along with Hearthfire, it truly rocks to have them both!

You can clear away the wheat by clicking when the message says “Activate Fertile Soil” rather than “Harvest Wheat.” Then just replant.

Look around on the slope opposite the door and you will find an orangey-brown patch of dirt. That is where you mine your clay. There should be a pickaxe over by the stone quarry (gray patch of rock on your right as you walk toward the lake from the crafting station) in case you need one.

Happy homesteading!

I already tried out Lakeview last night and can confirm you can just see the clay pits from the crafting station, stand in front of the construction workbench as if you were going to use it, and turn slightly to your right, they are where the ground starts to rise slightly. Very near your chopping block and wood pile.

I just got Tundra Defense and started a new game for that and Hearthfire, after playing around a bit with Hearthfire last night using an older character just to get the gist of it, looking forward to seeing what I can do with both the DLC and the mod together, it should be fun! I already feel more invested in Hearthfire with my new character, because I don't have the money/ore stockpiled to insta-build a home, it's going to be a much more gradual process than my trial run last night.

Chicken eggs in the nest, and if you build the kitchen …
Spoiler
you will find a jug of milk added to the inventory of one of the cupboards every day. The added jug of milk should not disrupt the contents you put in that cupboard. It seems that you will get a jug each day for up to seven days without collecting them. Meaning the most I have found is seven jugs.

Also it’s fun to watch the cow run from…
Spoiler
dragons! Lakeview practically paid for itself in dragon bones for me. Keep a blade handy, farmers!

The basemant is listed as “Cellar” on I think the crafting bench? Either that or the drafting table, I don’t remember. You can build it after you build the main hall.

Edit: And you're welcome! :) I hit post too soon because I thought I heard the school bus!
