Favorite Books in Skyrim

Post » Fri Aug 03, 2012 11:42 am

I know this thread has been done before but it's been a while and I love TES's in-game books so I'm always interested to see what books others enjoy. The ones I have listed also come with a link to the book from the Imperial Library.

My favorites:
**Two great spooky short stories that are sort of tied together. I definitely recommend that you read them if you haven't yet. They gave me the chills.*

**The Woodcutter's Wife - A tale of a woodcutter's wife cursed for her deeds.

**Cabin in the Woods - A creepy story about a soldier and a ghostly woman.

Ghosts in the Storm - A story of a Khajiit caravan coming under attack from unknown creatures during a terrible storm.
http://www.imperial-library.info/content/ghosts-storm

A Dream of Sovngarde - Story of a Nord's dream the night before his glorious final battle.

Honorable mentions:
Flight from the Thalmor - A great account of a Nord's capture and escape from Thalmor Justiciars.

The Death of a Wanderer - The tale of an Argonian explorer. Also gives a very interesting explanation on the gemstone dragon claw keys.

The Marksmanship Lesson - An story about a Bosmer slave's interesting way of revenge.

There are more books that I liked but for the sake of clogging this post I'll leave them out.
So what are some of your favorite books in Skyrim?

2 books that I recently read and enjoyed:

Legend of Krately House

and

Mystery of Talara Part 1 (especially this, trying to imagine how the landscape could be by reading it was nice).

I think I have those in my house. I'll have to give them a read.

There are still plenty books that I haven't gotten to yet. As much as I'd like to, I can't just sit in Skyrim all day reading books, lol.

The 2920 series I've always been fond of. Almsivi are pretty cool guys. Chance's Folly is good, Rising Threat is one of my favourite, better-written than most of the ingame books imo. A Dance in Fire and the Argonian Account are both pretty neat, and Disaster at Ionith is fascinating to me, but I also like any lore surrounding the Akaviri.

The Real Barenziah Volumes

The Cabin in the Woods (I actually read that in a Cabin in the woods at night -Anise's Cabin-)

the Argonian Account Volumes (definitely gives a nice visual explanation of what Black Marsh is like )

I pretty much liked every book I read in skyrim, some I can't remember. I know Horror of Castle Xyr or what ever it was is good.

Edit : Oh yeah, Ahzirr Trajijazeri has to be up in there, can't say I would completely agree with the Renrijra Krin but reading about them was interesting.

Both volumes of the Lusty Argonian Maid. All my characters keep those books in their bags because they need some erotica involving argonians on their journey. Ahzirr Trajijazeri is the only easy to find book about Khajiit, and my Khajiit like to keep the ways of their kind close to them. I always have Khajiit characters in all the games keep Khajiit related books with them.

The Pig Children makes me chuckle.
I also enjoyed the Woodcutter's Wife and the Cabin in the Woods. I actually read them while outside of Falkreath, in the rain, with the music turned off and the ambient sounds turned up, lights out in the house, and got jumped by a skeever outside of the house I was reading them in. I about nearly... well.. did something in my shorts. lol

I like "Scourge of the Gray Quarter", because it intelligently explains the right and the wrong way to deal with immigrants. Expect them to do their share of work and assimilate into your way of life, but treat and regard them as equals when they do.

I also remember reading a book that talked about a Bosmer, if I remember right, that had to go steal apples inside a castle's fortress, or else he would had starve to death. Something like that xD

It was short but nice, and I think it's I found it inside Fort Hraggstad.

Unless it's patched in 1.7, no it isn't. I did it a couple of weeks ago after 1.6. They patched the duplication issues with containers, but it still works with bookshelves.

That reminds me, another favourite of mine is the Red Kitchen Reader or whatever it's called.

really? How come after the first patch it stopped working for me? Not that I wanna do it anymore, I did it with 2 characters and it took the fun out of the feeling of "growing stronger"
