Favorite Comedians!

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 7:36 pm

So who is your favorite comedian and why?
I like Bill Cosby and Tim Hawkins
Bill Cosby is one of my favorites because, yes I am 14, but I do love the Cosby Show. It cracks me up.
Next I love Tim Hawkins because he is a Christian comedian, and he cracks jokes about things that are so real.
Type in Tim Hawkins on youtube and look for "paintball", "girls vs boys", and I think "men and women, cellphones". They are really funny.

Some of my favorite comedians are Louis C.K., Dave Attell, Artie Lange and others I can't currently name at the moment.

Right now, I'd have to say my favorites are Joel Dommett and Bo Burnham (Bo is absolutely brilliant with wordplay and irony).

Dave Chapelle.
Daniel Tosh.
Carlos Mencia.

Dons Flame shield.

Less controversial ones that are indeed my all-time favorite are these two.
George Carlin is one of my all time favorites though. Like Literally #1. Read his books. Brain Droppings is effing hilarious.

Mel Brooks comes in pretty damned far up my list too. Watch his movies. Hell just watch the guy period lol.

Mel Brooks, George Carlin, Stephen Fry, the Monty Python people, Gabriel Iglesias, and while they aren't my favorites, I do find Tosh and Chapelle pretty amusing.

Jim Gaffigan
John Pinette
Kevin Hart
Dave Chapelle

I was wondering what people like about George Carlin's standup. I watched three specials of him and all I got was a few chuckles. Plus it seemed to me he was just ranting whenever he talked politics or religion these were to me the unfunny parts of standup.

No order:

-Bill Cosby, from his early vinyl recording days to Cosby show.
-George Carlin (more his early stuff vs., say, his 80's stuff)
-Dennis Leary when he did stand-up.
-Monty Python
-Smothers Brothers
-Eddie Murphy when he did stand up/his early movies like 48 Hours (his current movie career is sad....)
-George Burns
-Peter Sellers
-Andy Kaufman
-Jim Carrey
-Steve Martin
-Robin Williams (stand up days, he was crazy-hyper)
-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIKGV2cTgqA(edit-changed link to better version on YouTube)
-Steve Allen, Jonathan Winters, dike Van Dyke, more.

....my parents were a big influence. I'm not really "up" on current comedians by name, altho when I see some on TV I often find them amusing.

I've never seen the appeal of Russell Brand, he's just an obnoxious turd who needs a haircut. And Frankie Boyle seems to be more of a professional git than an actual comedian.

Daniel Tosh, Bo Burnham and Dave Chappelle would at least be in my top ten. Something about mean-spirited dark humor with chunks of truth splattered throughout really appeals to me. Oh and Deon Cole. Dude use to write for Chappelle back in the day. Damn funny.

Edit: Can't believe I forgot about Louis C.K. Absolutely hilarious and he's pretty much the polar opposite of [censored]-bags like Dane Cook who strictly do it for the cash and fame.

Bit obvious, but Billy Connolly, all time master of the art.
Stan Laurel was hilarious just for existing, one facial expression has more humour than all the right on/political satire skits ever done added together. Making people laugh >>>>>> trying to be clever.
Dylan Moran. A mate of mine saw Noel Fielding get booed off stage after Moran had been on. Tidy.
My kids love Lee Evans and Russell Howard.

Classic Mike Reid totally non-PC offensive joke of the day :
Spoiler
I get home from work, the missus is lying on the bed. She's wearing black stockings, and black gloves. She looked like the five of spades.
Runaround, nah!
