The only fight scene that made me go 'whoa' at the cinema was watching Gandalf vs Saruman in the The Fellowship of the Ring for the first time. My mouth must have been widely open while Gandalf is spinning around, I'm sure.

The fight felt a lot less epic the second time I watched it at home though.

The hallway fight scene in "Oldboy" is the first that comes to mind.
It's on YouTube, but probably too violent to link here.

On a lighter note...
The fight against the Village of Crazies in "Gymkata" is a legend in hilarity... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPGUZxOCRcs
Yes, the village of crazy people just happened to have the correct gymnastic equipment for him to use

The best fight scene in my mind is from Black Moon Rising. Towards the end of the movie there is a fight between the two main people. The fight was decent as fights go, but it was what happened in the movie after that made it real for me. Tommy Lee Jones character, who won the fight, acted like he had been in a fight and was in pain afterwards. It affected the things he did for the rest of the movie. Most action fights end with the winner acting like he just had to brush his hair to recover from the fight.

gymkata :) brings back memories

not exacly a fight scene but hilarious in its own right (some 80s southeast asian action flick) 2 blokes running away our hero knife in hand draws out his pistol shoots a bullet at his knife taking down both of the baddies

fight

the hunted knife fight but a good one

history of violence efficent

and generally any fight scene that has opponents working at their foes joints throats and soft tissues (silat is good systema is well outdated us marines and their cqc techniques especially the ones using their rifles is also good)

I like the fight scenes in various Bond movies, but I don't really have a favorite one.

The fight between Dumbledore and Voldemort was a good one too, although that's the only thing near the end of the OOTP movie that I like (I liked the first half of the movie too, but not so much the second half).

The Transporter trilogy has some good fight scenes in it as well, but I don't have a favorite one there either.

I can't remember the name, but it was a martial arts movie. It was quite a long scene, with the main character fighting up a wide spiral staircase in some sort of large building (like a mansion I seem to re-call). The amazing thing is it was all one shot, with no cuts, just the camera slowly spiraling to follow the fight up the stairs. Just the fact that they could co-ordinate such a long continuous scene astounded me! Shame I can't remember the name :sadvaultboy:

But really, any of Bruce Lee's or the early Jackie Chan's stuff is entertaining, knowing that they actually know all the stuff they did on screen.

Hell yeah. The first one had some brutal fights in there.

The first thing that comes to mind is Game of Death, but I'm not remembering the spiral staircase. I wish I knew what you were talking about. Sounds like something I'd watch.

Favorite fight scene would have to be Neo vs Morpheus in the first Matrix movie.

Every fight in the Kill Bill movies. Although the best one is Beatrix vs. Elle.

I dunno man The Bride vs The Crazy 88. It's bloody as hell and bordering on satire, but I'll be damned of it wasn't one of my favorites. The Bride vs Elle was over too quick. The Bride did avenge her master though.

Very true, I was struggling between the Crazy 88 or Elle. I will admit Crazy 88 had some great moments.

Just about anything with Jackie Chan. I like humor with my violence. :toughninja:

"They Live"
Lots of advlt language, but it's easy to find on YouTube.

It's one of the most realistic fights, in terms that they get tired and fight dirty. All while trying to prove a point.
Fun movie with a fun fight.

I seemed to have liked the fight scenes in The Avengers. Does this make me a bad person? :P

Other than that, The Matrix fight scenes and Jackie Chan fight scenes are also entertaining to watch. I can't be specific with them as I haven't seen either in a long time, and my memory is fuzzy as consequence.

But Gandalf vs. Saruman and Dumbledore vs. Voldemort were awesome as well. :D

I'm going to get some heat for saying this:

  • but the fight between Obi-Wan and Anakin
  • the one between Obi-wan, Darth Maul, and Qui-gon
  • Luke vs Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi.
