Favorite New Vegas style songs? (tracks NOT in the game)

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 6:00 am

A couple of my favorite songs from New Vegas are: Big Iron, by Marty Robbins and Johnny Guitar by Peggy Lee?

I want to find other songs that I can listen to while playing New Vegas. One I found was "Cowboy in a Continental Suit" by Marty Robbins. It feels like it could be in New Vegas, since it's about a stranger in a suit showing up to ride a bronco.

Anyone else have any 30's to 50's style songs they'd recommend?

Probably not the first thing people think about, but for some reason, Tightrope by Stevie Ray Vaughan just clicks everytime! To me anyways.

Here's 100 that I hand picked to fit perfectly into the game. I'm certain you will find many you will like if you like the music of New Vegas and Fallout 3.

I second the Richard Cheese.

Nothing says New Vegas like music you know adapted to Vegas Lounge music.

Nothing says Las Vegas like the Rat Pack, so how about more Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr and Frank Sinatra? Martin and Sinatra both have a track on the current soundtrack anyway.

Another thing that surprised me is that there isn't any Elvis?

I'm sure Elvis would have cost way too much money to license, or either they were unable to obtain licensing.

True. They never do refer to him by name. The Kings don't even know he has a name, other than "the King". However, they do refer to three of his songs.

Well, I'm playing on PS3, so unfortunately, I think I'm stuck with the songs in the game.

I am actually seriously considering going out and buying Fallout 3 and/or New Vegas for PC, so that I can utilize mods.

Thanks for the suggestions. I like My Rifle, My Pony and Me, as well as the Ink Spots, I'll Lose a Friend Tomorrow.

Here's another song: Ringo by Lorne Green.

Start of the song is very appropriate for New Vegas.

The Wild West Is Where I Want To Be makes me wish Tom Lehrer had a better a singing voice. Great lyrics, though.

"Fever" by Elvis. Or anything by Elvis, but that's my fave - especially for in the dens of sin :hubbahubba: It's a shame they couldn't get the licensing for any of his songs. I also like the bluesy-route, although that might be why I prefer the soundtrack for F:3, and I see why it wouldn't be appropriate for this game.

There are plenty that don't get played by the radio cause the damn thing's broken and just repeats the same 4 songs.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RG7aS07dAN0 by Johnny Cash. The foot-stomping and guitar just seem to fit the old-fashioned Western "lone wanderer" vibe FONV gives off.

Richard Cheese is also great, of course.

I still think that the best song ever for the Fallout series would be The Union Undergrounds"Revolution Man".

I used to chill to it while playing 2 and no other song comes close to catching the spirit of the game series.

Awesome contribution! I loved the old GNR-More From Where That Came From and made a thumb drive of it to play on my xbox while playing FO3. I'll be doing the same for these.

Really, really fits the theme and feel of the game in my opinion, I was very disappointed it didn't make it in. The ironically up-beat tracks always fit in great.
