I much prefer the spell shortcuts in Oblivion (quick slots) over the shortcuts in Skyrim (favorites). In Oblivion, I had 8 spells that I could get to in just one button press. In Skyrim, I only have 2.
Sure, in Skyrim you are able to put more than 8 spells into your favorites list and get to them pretty quick. But the more you put in there, the slower selection becomes. And so it defeats the purpose, because at some point it becomes quicker to just go through the B button menu and choose your spell by category (which is much easier in Skyrim than it was in Oblivion).
So I suggest doing away with D button favorites altogether (you can still have them in the B button menu) and going back to quick slots, or assigning a different button to bring up the favorites list so that the D button can be used for 8 quick slots instead of just 2. But I'm not sure how you would do this since there aren't any buttons to spare. I suppose you could combine the B button menu and Start button menu into one.
Anyone else miss the quick slots? Overall, the menus are much easier to navigate in Skyrim. But please bring back quick slots.
