A few important points...

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 6:33 am

1. The makers of Skyrim, Oblivion etc ARE NOT making this game

2. We've only seen a few screens

3. Elderscrolls WILL be going multiplayer, accept it. You will gain nothing by going "Oh why go multiplayer oh its all meant to be single player nag nag nag" and starting various other threads HATING on the game even though we know NOTHING about it.

I've never seen an internet forum freak out as much as this before... yeah, I'm whining about the whiners but its like trying to convince someone the earth is round when they think its flat.

Its just a game, its not the end of the world. I'd hate to say this phrase but if you dont like it, dont play it. If you like it, but want some improvements, thats what the forums are for. But its no place to tell bethesda " you made the wrong choice because you went multiplayer." its ignorant

1. They're not, but the people who are are using the TES name, and should therefore aim to be as true to the franchise as a MMO can possibly be.

2. A few screens that don't even remotely look TES-like.

3. As long as the main series stays single-player, I have absolutely no problem with mutiplayer side projects. I did however hope that such a side project would try harder to capture the TES essense... rather than simply end up being a generic multiplayer game with the TES label slapped on it.

IMO, at least the announcement of TES:O had some merit:

Now everbody think twice before criticize BGS and some defects (few) Skyrim may still have.

ZOS in now the new target...

Umm it looks like TES with more color and a little less detail than the single player game, you could use a ENB setting or any other graphics mod to saturate Skyrim more and make its colors match the screens from TESO easy.

Why does everything have to be a carbon copy of the previous game? You might as well go back to playing cod, theyre very good at doing that. And 3 the game has literally just been announced.

If it weren't for a few giveaways, like the Ordinator, It honestly wouldn't cross my mind looking at those screenshots that they could be from a TES:MMO.

Who said anything about carbon copies?

All I expect is for any game with "The Elder Scrolls" in it's name to have a certain look and feel about it. A look and feel that's unique to games like Morrowind and Oblivion; not KOA: Reckoning, Dragon Age, Fable, Two Worlds II, or any other action-RPG franchise.

Again, a TES MMO was always bound to have very different gameplay to the main series. I accept that. But I still expected it to have that TES vibe...

From the screens, I must agree it doesnt look like a TES game, but the game has literally just been announced, and there are like 4 pictures or something. Every other MMO out there seems to use hotkey interface, rather than 1st person (which would have worked for TES MMO), so this is something new to the series. You may even like the game when it comes out, people are so quick to judge

This MMO will be great. The naysayers will become a minority once ZOS opens their website and more info + gameplay footage is released. Don't panic, guys: If you like the idea of the MMO, it will only get better. If you don't, Bethesda will continue to churn out console single player titles for you. Win-win.

99% of former TES has been indistinguishably generic.
Spoiler
Very slight hyperbole, but still quite accurate

The reason you recognize it and consider it "unique" is because you've spent hundreds of hours playing the games. No thing has had a consistent visual style throughout the series, all armors, weapons, architecture and landscapes have been distinctly different from game to game, not just from a perspective of graphical fidelity but also art design. The claim that there would be some consistent "TES visual style" is just utterly ridiculous.
