Fighting Fantasy

So before we had video games and tablets people used to read these things called books.

When I was a kid I used to love the "Fighting Fantasy" series.

They were like "Choose Your Own Adventure" but set in a Fantasy setting with a simplistic combat system that used pencil and dice.

There was "The Warlock of Firetop Mountain" and "Deathrap Dungeon" which I believe were the originals.

I used to be addicted to these things like Crack!

There were some really brilliant ones made such as "Sword Of The Samurai" that was set in Feudal Japan. "Freedom Fighter" that had a 'Mad Max: Road Warrior' setting and "Creature Of Havoc" where you actually played the role of the monster.

Only just recently I found my wife a copy of "House Of Hell" set in a Hammer Horror style tale.

Do any of you guys remember these or when you talk about "Old School RPGs" are you still talking about stuff that was on a computer?

I had those two, there was a third in the original set, IIRC. They were quite fun back in the day.

I am pretty sure I remember seeing them at my parents house in teh last few years, I will have to see if I can find them.

EDIT: Looking at wiki, Firetop Mountain and Citadel of Chaos were the first 2, Forest of Doom was #3. Those were the 3 I had. Deathtrap Dungeon was #6. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Fighting_Fantasy_gamebooks

Hours of fun.

You can get a couple as Apps for your Iphone (the only problem being you can't cheat and give yourself PERFECT stats)!

It would be amazing if they released more in this format.
