Final answer - can I get rid of my current wife and remarry?

Post » Mon May 21, 2012 11:27 pm

So it appears that 1.5 will let you marry Lydia, That is who I wanted to marry to begin with, but since I could not, I married someone else.

I do NOT want to go back 20 levels just to marry her, however. I.e. go back to a save from a long time ago.

So - on a 360, no console commands, since there is no divorce, if I kill my current wife (say, accidentally, in the heat of battle..... yeah, accidentally, LOL) will the game allow me to remarry? I THINK the answer is no, but I sure wish, if they are adding Lydia to the marriage stable this late, they would provide a divorce option of some kind!

Thanks

Argh. Sure wish, if they are going to put Lydia back "on the market" they would add an option to divorce and go back to her!

Nope not without mods, afaik.

Similarly, does anyone know if an NPC can "re-marry"? For example, if something... unfortunate happened to Ulfberth War-Bear, would the marriage option come up for Adrianne Avernicci?

I mean, she'd need some cleaning up and maybe a new wardrobe, but that girl's got potential. She's got a great work ethic, strong self-reliant woman, and her father is the Steward of Whiterun, so lots of great perks there.

Nope. Whether a giant tears off your spouse's head or she accidentally trips stomach first onto your sword, when your spouse is dead, you can't remarry.

Thanks

Basically like Hanaisse said, only certain NPCs (barring mods) are eligible for marriage. But it does remind me of another marriage-y thing: If your intended spouse is someone who takes over a merchant's business if the first merchant dies (ie: Lucan Valerius in the Riverwood Trader dies, so his sister, Camilla takes over,) then you can't marry them because they gotta business to run.
