Finally had a dragon attack inside a WALLED city!

Post » Sat Dec 17, 2011 2:44 am

I'm at 232 hours and I didn't know this could happen... yes must be rare indeed

Yea I never knew either. I have over 100+ hrs in. The dragons do love attacking Winterhold in my game for some reason though.

I must be lucky... I've had about 6 dragon attacks inside a walled city in 85 hours.

Ive had two in about 200 hours of play. First one was in Riften, the bugger swooped in over the gates and did loads of fly-by attacks on the market stalls. It killed Nivernor (sp?) and the weapon merchant at the stalls. It was pretty sweet when it finally came down, as me and the gaurds all tore in to it right away on the steps of Mistveil.

The second was in Whiterun outside Dragonreach, but it didnt last long as it was on my Deathknight character and he two-hitted it with his daedric greatsword before it could manage to do any damage to the town.

Pretty sweet imo.

Never in a walled city, but several just outside one.

I am not sure if this will count, but I had a Dragon encoutner when I went to the Mages guild head quarters. Sorry so tired right now, forgot the proper name. It is still considered an outer cell I guess so not a "walled city inner cell". But when that Dragon landed on top of the building and "yelled at me" it was FREAKING Awsome.

The college was Dragon central at release, don't hear much about it now.

My first went like this:
Walked into solitude for the second time ever.
Dead dragon drops from the sky.
Free soul.

That's happened to me before. I was like "WTF?? FREE SOUL"

I think solitude is the most likely walled city for a dragon to attack, but if a dragon attacks the wrong area of the city, even an Elder or Ancient Dragon can be ripped to pieces in seconds, given how there is A LOT of guards AND Imperial Legion in Solitude near constantly.

unfortunately, the closest i got to a dragon attacking a city, was when i was near a wall inside whiterun and saw a dragon miles away flying around some mountain peaks.

...he flew away, and never came toward the city.

i wasnt even sure dragons could attack walled cities, so it surprised me seeing dragons even being loaded while inside a city.

A dragon attacked me in Windhelm earlier. Its skeleton disappeared pretty quickly afterwards. Windhelm has a good cleaning crew.

ide say every other time i went to the college of winterhold ide fight a dragon, i honestly dont know what happened to all the skeletons, they all disappeared. but still aside from the first dragon by the watchtower, ide say my next six or seven dragons were all fought in the courtyard of the college of winterhold. it got a bit ridiculous. to the point where i moved all my stuff to whiterun just so i wouldnt have to fight a dragon everytime i booted up the game.

other than that ive had one come to solitude, it ended up killing me and when i reloaded for some vengeance it didnt reappear.

I saw a dragon fly around when I was in Whiterun. He didn't do anything and eventually flew away.

I had one in Markath, it was pretty beast, however the only casualties were 1 town guard and the Dragon.

I've never personally fought a Dragon INSIDE WALLS of a City. But HAVE fought quite a few in cities/towns.

Winterhold, Dawnstar, as GREAT examples. It seems ALMOST ALWAYS every time I fast travel to Dawnstar a frikkin' Dragon decides he wants to rain on my parade. Most of the times he even BRINGS A FRIEND! :D

But cities like Whiterun, Solitude, Windhelm, etc.? Nah.. not yet.

Wanna hear something funny? I pretty much predicted the attack on Helgen. I KNEW some city was going to be part of a "Dragon's attacking the City" kinda quest. I just didn't know it'd happen RIGHT OFF THE BAT, lol.

Sad too, would've picked a better town to destroy... like Falkreath. Which is now the "Leyawiin" of Skyrim for me:

"Welcome! To the most DEPRESSING location in the whole world! Enjoy your RAIN!"

My first one was in Solitude and I had the guards do the most of the work. I dont think anyone died there. The most exhilarating one for me was when I was in Riverwood. I just married Camilla in Riverwood Trader and was coming back to the Trader when I heard the roar of the dragon. I made sure Camilla wasnt on the streets. I was fighting solo the whole time when I almost killed him when the guards finally decided to help. Trying to take my glory.

I'm about 30 hours in and have seen them countless times inside walled cities. Killed a few too. Makes for some good fun.

Going on 350 hours or so, and still have not seen a single dragon inside a city, TONS of them just outside a city though.

I've had two or three in Solitude. They cause the kids to say stupid things like, "in all my years I've never seen such a thing!" The best dialogue was the kid who said, "it's dead now, but where did it come from?" My only available response was, "sure, tag sounds fun!"

I'm over 200 hours in. I'm surprised I haven't seen one in Whiterun because I used to spend a lot of time there. The other walled cities haven't got as much attention from me yet.

I was attacked in Solitude. There were alot of guards around, but the ancient dragon ate quite a few of them. Funny are the npcs who yell "I yield, I yield" when a dragon attacks...

160 Hours, level 63, and not a single one in a town. Then again I only just got through half the MQ, so maybe that's got something to do with it.

I've also spent the last 20-30 hours without a single random dragon encounter. Today? I went around dragon walls clearing dragons (all generated during 1.2's buggy-assed patch, all not giving souls) - and in addition to the Elder dragon there, a Blood dragon randomly pops up and joins the fun.

That was my first 2-dragon fight, and boy, it was nasty.

My first attack also occurred in Whiterun. It was late at night, and I had just returned from a mission. The moment that I entered the hold, I saw a group of ppl that were all worried and stuff, and then it happened! I was fortunate enough to get a few critical blows in with my greatsword, and with the help of the townsfolk, quickly killed the beast.
