Finding a missing follower

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 1:24 am

I've been carefully babysitting her and making sure she didn't die on me - once or twice I had to load a save from a few minutes earlier (good thing I obsessively hit F5 every few corridors) just so I could make sure she didn't walk off a cliff and die instantly. Regardless, I went and:

Spoiler
Read the Elder Scroll to learn the Dragonrend, came out and fought Alduin.

Anyway, when that business was done, she wasn't in sight. I assumed she died and her body fell off a cliff or some such, had a momentary sad, and moved on. I tried to recruit someone else to my cause only for them to tell me I still had a follower. So I can only assume that while the business in the spoiler was happening, she was set to auto wait, since I have fast traveled and entered rooms since, and she hasn't reappeared.

I was wondering if there was any way to summon her to you, find out where she is, or otherwise get her back. I'll happily accept a console command since I'm playing on PC.

Also, I gave her Dragonbane. So even if I can find her dead body, that's OK.

Btw, I'm almost entirely ranged - very heavily invested in archery and destruction/conjuration. Having someone around who is - compared to me - a walking wall of steel is conducive to a nonzero health bar.

This worked for me. try one of these.

Fast travel
Wait a hour
Go inside a house

They usually pop up if you do one of the three.

Edit: Reload a save if shes that important.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I have done all three of these things, to no avail. As I said, I have a feeling she might be set to Wait somewhere - it's the only thing I can think of that would stop her from coming to me when I do those things (save being dead. But another possible recruit turned me down since I seem to still have her following me).

Edit: It's not that she is so ridiculously important to me, it's that she A: Is still alive somewhere, stopping me from recruiting more followers, and B: Has my Dragonbane.
Incidentally, the only save I have with her still following me is about 3-4 hours progress ago. I don't want to do it all again.

I'm not able to try this right now but have you checked to see if Fallout 3 type commands work?

Bring up the console by hitting tilden ( ~ ) and click on an npc to get their identifier. In your case this would have to be from a much older save )

User the goto command or whatever it is that teleports you to them.

Again, this is just a thought. It's a new game so it's very possible that this wont' work.

Go to where you recruited her. If that doesn't work I don't know it might be a bug.

I had the same problem. Probably 3 days later, top of my screen says, Companion tired of waiting(she was stuck on flame trap), they left.

I look in Dragonsreach and she isnt there(waiting whole day) dunno where f she is.

OK so I went back to like the first save I ever had, found her code (a2c94), and teleported myself to her (player.moveto a2c94). I ended up:

Spoiler
On top of the Throat of the World, right where the time rip is.

I think she might have actually come with me, and might still be in there. Is there a way to select her and teleport her to the player? Does anyone know?

Interesting. I don't have a house, though; any ideas where she might turn up? I've checked Dragonsreach.

OK, another option, if anyone knows how: Forcibly remove her from being my follower. Anyone got any ideas?

Good work so far,

I also remember using a summon command that works almost the same way. Try that? I'm not at home otherwise I'd have time to help you look this stuff up.

She can't die.

She may get to 0 hp and stop doing things but she isn't dead. She will eventually recover.

She tends to teleport to you when you interact with an object like a chest or find a group of enemies or enter a house.

If I remember there used to be a resurrect command. The command itself may even have been " Resurrect ". From the command line type something like " resurrect targetidnamehere " . Or click on it once and with " resurrect " keyed into the console just hit the enter key. It does not sound like the console is much different.

Sorry Shadey but you are mistaken. Lidya is not an essential NPC, therefore she can - and will - die. She has done so a few times already.

I have tried entering houses, interacting with objects, etc - all in the hopes she will show up. I've moved past trying to let the game get her to me - I'm trying to do that myself now.

Ressurect wont work since it's not a command you can use with a parameter - you need to be able to click on her to "select" her, then type ressurect into the console. Since I can't find her, obviously I can't select her.

There is a "placeatme" command from back in Oblivion that would spawn a new version of something at your location - perhaps that's what you're thinking of, twi41? The problem is that I neither want a new version of her, nor have a base ID to spawn her again anyway. All I have is the reference ID (for me, a2c94)

Hiya Velk,

I'll be heading home soon but I'm pretty sure that I've summoned my companions from FO3 ( original ) when I lost them.

I pulled up most of this information from wikia.fallout.com ? I think. Will have more time when I'm home to look. It's the green and white wiki.

Found it, try " moveto player " ie, - player.moveto targetidname .

Try that

PROBLEM SOLVED.

I have determined that she was exactly where I founder, but she was actually disabled. I used the command "prid a2c94" to 'select' her, then used "moveto player" to teleport her to me. When nothing happened, I got confused, since the console commands parsed without errors. On a hunch, I "enabled" her, and she appeared as if nothing had happened. I believe that when I did the spoilery business above, the game disabled her so she wouldn't follow me, and for some reason didn't enable her again (which explains why she wasn't "getting sick of waiting", reporting back to Dragonsreach, or leaving my service). Problem solved!
