Finish guilds before main quest?

I'm running through a very rough plan of how I will play Skyrim.

How will you go about playing Skyrim in relation to the guild quests and main quest?

My buddy and I both agreed that elder scrolls games feel "complete" after the main quest is completed.
That we both want to have finished the guilds we set out to play for that character before finishing the main quest.

Do you guys agree? disagree? I just think that it will feel odd doing petty jobs for members of guilds after I saved the world. Do I want my Dovahkiin to be thrown in jail for pick pocketing after he saved the world? etc.

Will you try to complete everything you wanted to for your character before finishing up the main quest? Why or why not

id like to think of guilds as a way for progressing my character, to take advantage of quest rewards and anything the guilds have to offer, trainers, items from stashes you name it. however i won't be doing every guild on my first play through, instead i will do 1 per playthrough.

I tend to do most of the guild quests before I end the main storyline. That way I have some experience as well as some nice items.

It doesn't really matter. TES doesn't hold you to anything. You do what you want. I'm running 1 character per guild, per playthrough. MQ or not. The choice is yours. It just never made sense for one character to join opposing/different factions. This is just my opinion. Feel free to do all of it. if you so choose. There is nothing wrong with that.

I will do EVERYTHING i want with a character before i finish the MQ

After you do what every they have set up to be the big plot, the game feels hollow.

In morrowind, i was 45 and was the leader of the mages, warriors, almost the leader of the thieves, the leader of the dark brother hood, all before i finished the second step in the MQ
