Finn's lute Quest bug.

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 10:17 pm

To get this quest you must speak to a lady in the bard college in Solitude, then you must find ''Finn's lute''. It is located in the Stony Creek Cave.. My problem is that I've found the lute without the quest.. (found it randomly) so I've visited Solitude for the first time today and spoke to that girl and my only option was to say..

''I've found Finn's lute''

I was like.. nice thats an easy quest! but the problem is.. I never actually gave it to the women but completed the quest anyways. When I try to drop the item it says ''quest item cannot be dropped from inventory'' but the quest is completed!!

Someone else have this problem? (probably not..) :(

It's a well-known bug, happened to me too, with all the instruments in fact. I used the console to finish the quests and remove the items from the inventory.
If you're on pc it's easy, console on the other hand...

Yea, the lut never drops. There's a quest for a drum, too - same thing.

There's a quest for a flute, too (not sure if that's from the Bard college, since I haven't done it) and I think that stays forever too (which is why I haven't done it yet).

However, it also seems that it doesn't actually weigh anything, so other than clutter, it doesn't hurt you.

The lute weigh 3 or 4 not sure. Not a big deal but still annoying when you look at your inventory! This thing will never be fixed so we must get use to it

It maintains its zero weight status as a quest item.

It's clutter but it isn't actually weighing you down.

Just sloppy programming, but it's not the end of the world and it's a fairly benign bug.

It is not so much a bug as it is they forgot to mark some quest items to drop from inventory. Same thing they did in Oblivion.

Yea, if you play and explore long enough they way I did you will end up with upwards of 30+ lbs (kg's?.....whatever) of crap marked as quest related that you cannot remove from your inventory. Before I stopped playing my last char I blew quite a few level-ups into Stamina just to compensate for some of it. Really bugged the hell out of me.

We have to expect bugs in such a huge game like that one.. but this is still disappointing

All quest items weigh zero, no matter what it says in your inventory.

Yep, even if they're marked as weighing a couple of pounds, they won't actually weigh you down whatsoever. If you can't drop it, it's weightless, so don't worry. And OP I have the same thing with the drum.

there are way too many quest items in the game. some hard learned lessons: dont take things off a decapitated corpse's body it might just be a quest item.

The same issue affects Flute, Lute and Drum, regardless of whether you find the item first, or receive the quest. No big deal.
