Firing arrows

I thought I saw somewhere that when you use a bow in ESO, you don't have to aim and fire yourself, the computer does it for you. If this is true, then it is the stupidest thing ever. Really takes the unique-ness out of Elder Scrolls. Is this true??

Sorry but nobody can tell you what is going on in game right now because of a non disclosure agreement. Beware of rumors most are not true. I hope not because that would be a show stopper for me.

It would totally destroy my Plans of being a Mage Archer.

There is a softlock system in place. No there is no auto attack but there will be assisting with aiming. Look on google for ESO softlock aiming.

You still have to aim your bow at the target but they added in a soft-lock targeting system so that once you aim and fire the arrow will home into the target and hit it. If they didn't do it this way and went the Elder Scrolls version than archery would become the least use role in the game. You have to realize this is an MMO and its online. So people have to deal with latency in this game where in the TES series you are playing offline and there is so latency. If someones ping was over 150 it would be damn near impossible for them to play as an archer they would miss pretty much every shot. And don't tell me you can play with 200 ping in CoD. FYI bullets travel faster than arrows do so its easier to play with higher latency with a game that uses bullet physics over arrow. So they NEEDED to do this soft lock otherwise archery would have been the worst role in the game.

Exactly. Not to mention that arrows in Skyrim are piss easy to evade. It would be more a case of luck than skill..

Exactly it wasn't hard to evade arrows at all. They wanted archers to be competitive in combat and they are with the soft lock target system.

I think some people think that Bethesda would have kept it the same if they were making this game. I believe Bethesda would have made a system just as similar to the soft lock because they realized that people are now having to deal with latency now than before.

That depends on the speed of arrows

Im hoping the Archery range is comparable to skyrim, maybe not quite as far because archers would own from keep towers. I like the feeling of hitting a target running at me. From 100 meters away. I've heard talk that the range was lessened and that would be sad.

I guess this is an advantage then as you can get the [censored] who run round trying to dodge your arrows

There is an active dodge system in the game though, that will require stamina to use. It is triggered by a double tap of A or D if I'm correct. Btw: Excellent choice of football club! COYS!

If they made them as fast as bullets than sure there would be no reason for the soft lock. But that's reslly not realistic though

Not that fast but, faster it gets, harder to dodge.

They could even make better bows shoot faster arrows. Would be nice feature.

Real archers were shooting arrows that can travel 66 meters in a second
