[REQ] First Person Everything!

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 12:35 am

Although I don't support many of Skyrim's changes that make the game an ACTION-rpg rather than an action-RPG, the only thing that really upsets me is this forced third person business.

It is a change that is utterly and completely without any form of merit, a heavy-handed imposition of someone else's play style upon how most solid TES fans expect to play. It can have been motivated only by laziness and clashes with a decade-long commitment to first person immersion, starting with Arena.

Being forced into third person for finishing moves and as a werewolf is especially disruptive. I hope modders can find a solution forthwith, even if it is a rough one. I don't need to see my claws waving in from of my face in order to do damage.

I second this. I can deal with the third-person horse riding (as I don't use horses anyway) and I don't mind the third-person finishing moves... but third-person werewolves? I HATE third person in TES myself, I don't like how it plays, it's more difficult and it kills my immersion - yes I did try in Skyrim because it was supposed to be improved, and I still don't like it. I don't get why Bethesda decided to force this onto us. Doesn't Todd prefer first person over third person himself?

Why, Bethesda? Whyyyyyyyy?

YES! Imagine how awesome it would be making those third person dragon finishers 1st person.

Fourthed. I see why they did it, but I'd like to turn it off. Especially with the werewolf and horseback, where you're running around for a long time, and the first person view wouldn't be doing anything especially weird that I can think of. This would be a great (and hopefully simple) mod.

Yes I hope there is a mod that keeps everything 1st person (or even better, always lets you switch between 1st/3rd). I especially don't like that horse view is 3rd person only, dont see a reason for that and it is one of the many reasons why horses are bad in this game.

3rd person is the only thing that disappoints me about werewolves so far. I was overjoyed that they were included, but they seem to have been done well, still have the all fours running from Morrowind, the kill moves look great.

Although, it also looks like it's not possible to sneak as a werewolf? That doesn't quite make sense to me either. But first person would be great.

Yeah, I want this too. I don't know how any of the coding actually works, but couldn't you just relocate the camera so that it is just in front of the characters face as the kill move/horseback riding/werewolf sequence is occurring? Doesn't seem too difficult.

I want so much a mod like that.... if possible, being able to see my body / legs in first person view.

I like to play in both third and first person, but I also like to be able to decide for myself which view to use at any given time. I can deal with the finishers, but I'd really like first person werewolf and horse riding.

I too was disappointed when my legs were not visible. It's 2011, we should be able to see our own shadows on the wall and our reflections in the water.

That said, "1st person everything" is a swell idea. It would be nice if the 1st person view was just enhanced in general. I never thought I'd have to say that for a Bethesda game; despite how impressed I am with Skyrim as a whole, this is one of those things that has been bugging me and, it seems, us all.

thats what we need, just a mod that zooms in beyond the players face
so everything in "first person" looks the same as in third person

The down side to that, of course, Hoodzra, is that this new "first person" would take the place of the 3rd person cam. How am I supposed to know how totally badass my Dunmer looks if I can't play in 3rd person every now and again?

Dont think we would have to lose third person, just make sure the zoom function on scroll wheel still works, this way you just zoom out to see your character again
maybe just bind F to zoom in to infront of the face and when you press it again it zooms out to default third person and you can scroll to zoom in or out

Being able to ride horses and be a werewolf in 1st person would be a very welcome change, trying to control them is annoying in 3rd person.

Totally agreed. I hate riding and controlling a horse from 3rd person.

Also have to say that I would love this. I honestly thought there was going to be an option for this like in New Vegas when you have the bullet time thing. I turned that off asap! As already mentioned if you could see your body somehow that would be freaking sweet!

most important mod req for me atm.

I even don't mount anymore as the *forcing* 3rd person view is a gamestopper for me.
In this regards(!) Skyrim isn't a TES game anymore IMHO.

1st person view all the way, keep 3rd person view as an option ! :)
