First person?

Is the game first person?

If it's not, I'm afraid I will not play the game.
The fighting also better not be skill based like WOW and you press buttons to activate different skills...

Most likely not. And it's most likely skill based like WoW. Let's face it, it will probably pretty much be WoW with Elder Scrolls lore slapped on top of it and some gimmick to make it slightly different. I'm open to the possibility that this is not the case though, in fact I'm hoping I'm wrong.

This game will be a Top Down isometric mouse pointer game pretty much like every other MMO. The only people looking forward to this game are DAoC players who wanted a sequel and now they have one, for TES fans you will get lore but no game play mechanics from TES what so ever... enjoy

Barely been playing The Elder Scrolls series apart from Oblivion and Skyrim a couple of times. Also managed to get Daggerfall working along with a friend of mine. Wish I followed the lore from the beginning, but guess I was too young back then. Still, I'm going to begin reading the lore before The Elder Scrolls: Online gets launched and hopefully be able to develop a decent character. Oh, considering that, I really hope the game will be roleplay-friendly. Still, I'm trying to avoid hoping too much in case things wont be as I expected.

Anyway, I've got a pretty good feeling about this. About being able to run around and attack creatures in first-person.. why not?

First-person is possible but it won't be easy to fight with it. I usually move around in first-person but scroll out for combat. The combat is somewhat of a hybred with a small selection of key/icon execution but with some limited active blocking and such.

In an interview they said that you would be able to do 1rst person but that the game is not designed around 1rst person and it could feel akward. They designed it around 3rd person as this allows you to see people who are coming up behind you etc. If you move all the way into 1rst person view you will get slaughtered in pvp more than likely. As far as how they will do the fighting they have said they want to try and make it more action oriented , with like windup on hits etc but they haven't released enough information to know how far in that direction it will go. I personally am fine with it being more of the timed skill usage, but don't know yet how they will go. Its not a major issue for me either way if it works out as long as it doesn't have friendly fire for me.

Just to add, if you zoom into first person view you won't be able to see the weapons you're wielding.
