First ride to Solstheim, while encumbered

Post » Mon Feb 04, 2013 4:15 pm

By this point I'm wondering if anyone else has seen the same glitch I did when riding the boat to Solstheim while over your carry limit? If you try it during normal rides, you'll stay at the starting dock after a pause, just a little poorer. But if you happen to be overburdened when you take the first ride, when normally you'd be getting the "Wow, look- Morrowind!" sequence, something else happens.

Spoiler
The boat steers spectacularly through the city of Windhelm to go back to its berth.

I say "you", but is it just me?

What?

Take a character who has never been to Solstheim. Carry a little too much. Save first (because later that lets you reload/replay to see the normal scene). Stagger to Gjalund Salt-Sage and talk to him. For full effect, if you are in first-person, your eyes should have some scenery in view while talking to him, not just the deck. Bon voyage!

IOW, encumbrance screws up the movement in the opening scene? That's very odd...

Guess so! Before that I did not know the opening scene had "movement", I just assumed it was a standard cutscene.

I guess your character was actually physically moving, and encumbrance just screws that movement up? Very odd...
