First time playing Doom 3 ever. Just my thoughts on the PS3

I just want to say that this Doom collection is awesome, first off. I have the PS1 Doom that had Ultimate Doom and Doom 2, but had all the lighting changed so terribly. I would play the PC versions, but I find myself just buying RPGs whenever I buy anything off Steam. I have this Doom collection on PS3, and love it. Doom 3 on it is pretty choppy at plenty of points. It has loading and save times that make Tekken 6's loading times seem sane, but it's the only way I can play Doom 3 currently, and that's okay.

I wish they spent more time on actually trying to optimize the game for all platforms in some areas like the text. Most of these problems come from the PDA, though. I guess they didn't have enough time to optimize it. I have a 1080p TV, and am aware that the game is just upscaled due to not being made for 1080p TV resolutions. I just don't know why the PDA has slightly too small of text.

I love the game for the most part, and am glad to finally have good console versions of the first two Dooms. I had to suffer through the PS1 Custom Edition's lighting being so bad.

I wish id worked a bit more with how to make the PS3 port less filled with loading screens, but it isn't Tekken 6 on PS3 bad, so I can handle it. I'm just glad to be able to play Doom 1 through 3 on a console without strange choices in lighting.

I don't understand why Doom 1 and 2 on this disc lack music, though. Of anyone knows why, please tell me. I'm assuming it is copyright reasons, but I don't know why it would need to be removed at all.

Well, back to playing Doom 3.

FYI, the doom 1 and 2 music is still there, but you have to crank up the music slider to hear it, and even at full volume its way too quiet. This release is just a mess.

Thanks for telling me. I'm taking a break from the game right now since I'm going to have to do schoolwork in a bit and I need something to soothe my nerves, so I'll get to trying that out later. The game's auto save system makes my obsessive saving look like something everyone does. I don't know how they even made the load times so terrible. That doesn't even make sense. It seems console games of this gen, especially on the PS3, always have strange load times. I think Tekken 6's was about a minute long...

I hope I don't have to turn up the volume on my TV to hear the music better. I honestly bought this game for Doom 1 and 2, but heard Doom 3 was good, just never had an urge to play it until I got this game. I'm happy Doom 1 and 2 aren't a graphical mess that they were on the Custom Edition for PS1. I got a headache from the lighting on that one.
