Fish, fish, fish, fish, fish.

Hello everyone, I'm buying a 100 gallon tank soon and I plan on putting freshwater critters in there (tho I suppose I could do salt, but anyway...)

Now, at first I wanted to buy Piranah, but alas, they seemed to be illegal in my state, perhaps for good reason, but still pretty crappy. But in any case, I want something... exotic, something interesting, something beyond the norm to put in my tank; I'm thinking something carnivorous if at all possible, can anyone recommend something to me?

Japaness Fighting fish are pretty carnivorous and don't like their own kind (you don't want to put them in a tank with another fish of its kind---it won't end well) .

A small Shark if they sell 'em.

http://www.fishchannel.com/images/exclusives/aquarium-fish-international/tiger-oscar-200.jpg are the most intelligent cichlid (which is the most intelligent type of fish). You can build up enough trust with one for it to let you pat it while it's underwater.

They are from the amazon and are similar to Piranhas in that they will straight up murder most fish with ease, but you can keep them with http://www.funfishtank.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/08/bristlenose-pleco.jpg or a http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/71/Plecostomus_700.jpg/275px-Plecostomus_700.jpg. best fish to have in my opinion. If you feed them regularly enough and tank is big enough (which yours is) you can keep them in groups and with other fish big enough to hold their own, like http://113.20.7.57/~allabout/components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/Silver_Shark_4d68354fa0e3f.jpg or Goramis, it varies from oscar to oscar.
Alternatively, you could load it full of http://www.fishoutlet.com.au/files/Category/fisk_tetra_neon.jpg and http://aquadaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/tetras.jpg, http://www.bettatrading.com.au/images/1024px-Guppy_breeds-Copy.jpg, jewel cichlids, chocolate cichlids, silver sharks, bristle noses (These guys or a plecostamus are important as they eat the algae off the tank walls) and goldfish.

There are more expensive fish that are docile you can whack in, but it is a good idea to wet your feet (so to speak) in aquarium keeping before investing too much money in a tank or other liquid assests.

Japaness Fighting fish are pretty carnivorous and anti-social (you don't want to put them in a tank with other fish---it won't end well) :P .

A small Shark if they sell 'em.
if they're the fish I'm thinking of then they'll only fight with their own kind and more than happy to swim with other types.

Get a few king crabs, put a small boxing ring in the tank on the bottom, and hold illegal crab fights at your house.

Electric Eel. My buddy used to have one. We used to get drunk and see who could hold it the longest. :shocking:
