I am very happy now and no longer fantasizing about doing a remake of Nutcracker Robot Chicken starring Bethesda developers. This worked for me.

I actually had this same glitch and tried the trick where you go take an "old cowboy hat" and wear it when entering the strip. Fixed it instantly. I think it sees the hat and its recognized as the one that the guy in that mission was wearing (they look the same)...maybe the glitch needs that piece of apparel to exist in the scene.

I got my hat in the crimson caravan spot near by. Next to a bunch of med kits in a supply spot there is one. Ive tried this like 5 times with and without the hat and Ive confirmed it (for atleast me that is).
