Fix HAND TO HAND and brawling---here's how!

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 8:59 pm

Hand-to-hand svcks, we all know it. Unarmed combat is really just a bad minigame and it really has no skill involved. Since there is no way to block, the player is forced to just button mash against the opponent. Ultimately whoever has armor or higher health wins, plus you can use potions and healing during brawls. Fixing hand to hand and brawling is easy, but it would require a few changes.

Here's what needs to be changed:

1) Left Trigger needs to be block.

2) Holding block and attacking should do a bash.

3) A seperate damage bar is needed for brawls which is equal for all characters regardless of armor or health and cannot be affected by health potions or healing spells.

Or you could dodge incoming blows, but yes, brawling is basic.

Unarmed combat was better in Oblivion, which is absolutely pathetic considering this is 5 years later

Something wrong about changing that key to Block.

see each hand is controlled by one mouse button, people where right to call it one handed because fists are controlled like dual weild weapons. you block with fists you can block with dual wielded weapons. with the current make up you can mod combos or special moves with key presses. the "Blocking" is going to be very tricky.

It doesnt need to be consistent for hand-to-hand. It worked in Oblivion to control both hands with one button. You can still power attack forward, backward, and sideways. It would be easy enough to map the two handed power combos to a forward or backwards power attack.

THe point is---blocking is ESSENTIAL. Without blocking it becomes just like dual weilding and it looks horrible. I dont invest points into health, so blocking is essential for my character to survive a brawl--and I cant do it.
