fixing rage on pc is actually part of the gameplay itself! LOL :)

bethesda forum info as on october 17th:

PC: 889 topics and 5666 replies (!)
360: 59 topics and 154 replies
PS3: 75 topics and 405 replies

Seems obvious on which platform the real problems are.

Another interesting thread i found in the ps 3 section: Carmack wrote back to a user: its called "got message from carmack"

after many pestering messages, Carmack as responded to one of my tweets. here is the conversation..

No disrespect but this is nothing new to PC gaming. True RAGE has more issues then most new games but Rage is the first game to use the company's new OpenGL based id Tech 5 engine. So it was sure to have issues when it came out for pc. This will pass they will patch more and they all will get it fixed.

Uhh... stop making excuses for them. The fact remains: They released an unfinished pile of bull****. It had -nothing- to do with the new engine. Know how many games have been released with cutting edge, new engines? AT ONE FOR EVERY NEW GAME ENGINE THAT HAS EVER EXISTED.

Let's recap here, what games have been -released- and not worked worth a damn for such a vast majority of people who bought it? Superman 64, in my opinion, is the closest "major" title to have anywhere near this many problems, and that game was STILL considerably closer to being done "well" than this game was, on release, and they couldn't even update!

How many people who exceed minimum requirements for this game can't play, for whatever stupid reason? I would have to say it's somewhere in the mid thousands, if not considerably more.

On top of that, the variance between computer setups of all these people goes from the "highly common" to the "borderline supercomputer" and everywhere in between. NONE of them work anywhere near correctly.

This. Game. Was. Not. Done. Period. On top of that, it's been several weeks now and all we've gotten was one sad, half-assed piece of [censored] update that broke more [censored] than it fixed for more people than had problems before!

Before you say "but it works for some people" remember that those people are not only few and far between, but that the fact that it works for them is -completely- arbitrary. People who far exceed minimum tech requirements have these exact same problems.

All in all, I'd love to see these "in house" computers they used to "test" the PC version before they released it. I have to wonder if they might be running some sort of distributor specific console emulators or something... because this is honestly incredibly stupid.

Oh, and by the way, if any ID or Bethesda folks do bother reading any of these (since clearly you don't care enough to actually release an update for some of the [censored]tiest work I've ever seen in the world of programming, EVEN CONSIDERING THAT IT IS A PORT FROM CONSOLES, I don't think you'd care enough to read these, but... just in case :) ) but I won't be forgetting this any time soon, nor do I think many of these people will. Brace your wallets for a dry spell.
