Flame Cloak+Quiet Casting+Invisibility

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 6:34 pm

So I'm making this MagiSassin build for my Argonian, and it seems really cool so far. But I was wondering...

Does Flame cloak synergize with quiet casting, and invisibility? The way I was thinking about it was..

1. Cast flame cloak from hiding.
2. Turn invisible(with the shadow warrior perk for help).
3. Crouch next to the enemy until they die from the invisible flames.

Can this even work?

Quiet Casting does work wth any spell, but I am not sure about Invisibility keeping your character hidden from an NPC who is taking damage from fire? I will be able to test this at 8 AM Central, hopefully somone else has a save to try this with before then.

I found a Save on the PC I am using now, and yes the idea does work fairly well. They will attempt to look for what is damaging them, and some of the higher level bandits did find my character, but most died in the attempt.

Huh. I'd expected the invisibility to wear off the moment the flame cloak hits someone, but that's awesome. Gotta remember that ...

I wonder it that would also work using Boethiah's Ebony Mail?

I just used invisibility in skuldafn to try and run past all those annoying deathlords and their dam shouts but they were shooting and shouting at me like i was visible...invisibility is pointless if you have to sneak to be truly 'invisible'

If you ran past them then they heard your footsteps. Invisibility just hides you from sight, they still know someone is there by the sound you are making. You need high stealth skill and perks and/or a Muffle enchantment coupled with Invis for you to be truly undetectable. And it is by no means pointless, it can be downright overpowered if used correctly by a skilled user.

They can still hear you even if you are invisible. That clanking sound from your armor, you gotta quitet it down somehow. Falmers are blind, but they can still detect you pretty well. But if you are quiet, you can walk in front of them and they won't know a thing.

When I was testing Eclipses theory, I did say that a stronger opponent would find my character, because I do not normally play Sneaks. Invisibility only works for lump headed clods in Heavy Armor if they have an item with muffle as an enchantment, and a decent Sneak Skill really helps. Invisibility also has a habit of fading rather quickly when a character really does not want it to.

true but im wearing no armor and my sneak skill is maxed from sneak shooting arngeir, only no perks in it. I understand they should be able to hear me but to turn and shoot as if they see me is dumb. I remember in OB they would come to near where you are but wouldnt attack you because they couldnt see you...why they didnt do in skyrim doesnt make sense to me

Also works if you use the ethereal shout. Although you're not hidden, the enemy can't do damage to you. Works even better if you have a follower who uses ranged weapons
