Flames and Firebolt damage is too high

Not really too high but more than its supposed to.
This is with the fire perk 2/2. Firebolt originally lists for 25 damage, flames originally lists for 8 damage, fireball originally lists for 40.

Dunno what the hell is going on.

I'm gonna say you used +Fortify alchemy gear and drank the +Fortify Alchemy potion, to raise your alchemy skill to epic proportions. Then you created an extremely powerful Fortify Destruction potion and drank it.

Well now, fortify destruction potion actually adds damage? Not just makes it cost less..?

Hmm. That is a possibility I guess.

Oh you got a point there.

There could be a potion that increases fire damage or something.

There are potions that directly increase the damage of all destruction magic.

Either that or the game does calculate for higher ranks of perks, and his are bugged somehow. This seems most likely, because the +damage perks do not work on fire rune or flame cloak, which is the case here. I think potions do affect them though, but I'm not sure.

Also these multipliers are bizzard. Flames does about 3.5x base damage, while firebolt does about 2x. Bizzare.

Or the OP can just stop feigning incredulity and tell everyone how he did it.

Active effects are Mage Stone and Claws. Neither boost damage.

My frost and shock effects list correctly.

I did not drink a potion or anything like that.

I am completely naked and the stats stay the same.

Flames is listed as my favorite spell, and i'm sure firebolt is a close second. I've never used fireball much at all however.

I tried reproducing this on a new character and can't do it. May be a bug?

Did it assign your perk points into the fire perk correctly?
That's the only thing I can think of the modifies fire damage in this manner, especially considering runes and cloak are unaffected.

Runes and cloak don't seem to work on any damage type. It says 2/2 in the destruction perk tree.

Did they only change this high after you bought the perk, or have they been like this since before that?

I kind of want to reproduce this, lol.

I was definitely after buying the perk, I don't know when I noticed it. For a while I just thought that fire did more damage but then I looked up online and saw that flames is supposed to do 8 damage and was like holy [censored] it does nearly 4 times that much.

I had a similar bug with stats, which turned my ~150% magicka regen into something like 1000%, basically recharging my mana instantly when I casted anything.

It fixed itself after a while, but bethesda should definitely look into that, no idea if it happens the other way around aswell, but that could seriously break some people's games.

Now that you mention it, I did have that magica regen bug too. It actually regened while charging a spell too right?

You've done pretty well there! Mine are about 8 and 38 respectively, having been fully perked up

Your flames should be doing 12. Looks like you're bugged, also.

why not using flames ? Firebolt is uselss to me.

Flames : 27 every second, Cost 4
Firebolt: 52. Cost 12.

2xFlames does the same damage and costs 1/3 less ? There is something definitely wrong.

Firebolt has a higher range ^^ Also, if you have enough magicka/high enough regeneration, double firebolt does more damage.

That is now how the spells should work.

Max flames damn should be 12/second.
Max firebolt damage is 37 per blast.
Normally firebolt has considerably better DPS.
