Flames. My main damage spell.

I planned on making an illusion/conjuration/sneak Mage that never deals damage directly. Only relying on pets and causing chaos with illusion spells to kill everything with no followers.

Needless to say, before you level up those illusion and conjuration schools and perk them out, this character was nearly impossible to use. Draugr can't be affected by illusion until I master it. Flame atronach and even the non-perked frost atronach are pretty pitiful as main damage against draugr, etc. My sneak is too low to really get the drop on anything.

So I decided to augment my character with a little bit of flame magic. Being a dunmer, I figured that element worked best. Only two destruction perks spent. Novice and one augment flame.

I did read that bursting the flame spell over and over instead of continuous cast dealt more damage because each time, it adds an "on fire" debuff to the enemy so each burst after the first deals more damage. That provided pretty good damage.

Then suddenly i leveled and my damage jumped up. I looked at the spell, and it says it is dealing 22 damage per second (and I usually use two hands, so 44 damage per second). It starts at 8 damage so I was confused. I researched and saw that aspect of terror adds 10 points to each fire spell. Wow!

That makes my level 1 spell pretty devastating for so little cost. So now I'm a bit turned around on my character concept. I guess I'm an illusion/conjuration/sneak/destruction Mage now.

I wonder if that would affect flame enchantments? Could an illusion assassin be able to add another 20 damage by choosing a flame enchantment on their dual daggers?

Hmm. I didn't bother to check my racial ability. I need to go check.

Flames is an amazing spell. It can be cast with even the tiniest speck of magicka, invaluable when you've dumped it all in a lame ice storm that missed. Even at level 25, I ditched the lieks of Fireball and Ice Storm for Flames.

Level and perk up Alchemy and Enchanting. With a full set of fortify alchemy gear, you can make Fortify Destruction potions that will let you roast anything in the game.

Nah. I hate doing crafting skills in RPGs. I also hate how broken they make your character in skyrim. Destruction didn't really appeal to me as a primary skill because enchanting was a requirement to make it usable as main damage. But with a perk adding 10 damage per second, to a spell that originally dealt 8, that changes things.

It's strange that there would be a potion you can make to make your destruction damage insane yet there are no robes providing that as an enchantment and they felt spell crafting would make you overpowered but being able to craft a legendary daedric sword with two insane damage enchantments? No problem.

I'll stick with dungeon and merchant loot.

Flames are good but they do not affect stamina and magic, only health. That can be a problem sometimes especially against flame resistant being's ... like Dunmer, a Dummer Mage will laugh at your flames. I like lightning myself as it saps magika.

Sparks? IT was alright. The noise annoyed the hell out of me though.

The most I invested into Destruction was with my Adept Lightning Mage. Nothing like a couple thunderbolts that stagger an enemy then launch them off the side of a mountain.

*sigh* So enjoyable.

But aspect of terror doesn't work for sparks. That was my point. 10 points per second per hand on flames spell is quite a significant increase.
