Needless to say, before you level up those illusion and conjuration schools and perk them out, this character was nearly impossible to use. Draugr can't be affected by illusion until I master it. Flame atronach and even the non-perked frost atronach are pretty pitiful as main damage against draugr, etc. My sneak is too low to really get the drop on anything.
So I decided to augment my character with a little bit of flame magic. Being a dunmer, I figured that element worked best. Only two destruction perks spent. Novice and one augment flame.
I did read that bursting the flame spell over and over instead of continuous cast dealt more damage because each time, it adds an "on fire" debuff to the enemy so each burst after the first deals more damage. That provided pretty good damage.
Then suddenly i leveled and my damage jumped up. I looked at the spell, and it says it is dealing 22 damage per second (and I usually use two hands, so 44 damage per second). It starts at 8 damage so I was confused. I researched and saw that aspect of terror adds 10 points to each fire spell. Wow!
That makes my level 1 spell pretty devastating for so little cost. So now I'm a bit turned around on my character concept. I guess I'm an illusion/conjuration/sneak/destruction Mage now.
I wonder if that would affect flame enchantments? Could an illusion assassin be able to add another 20 damage by choosing a flame enchantment on their dual daggers?
Hmm. I didn't bother to check my racial ability. I need to go check.
