Flickering edges while standing still

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 1:54 am

Hi,

I've got a weird issue where any setting for Anti-Aliasing or Edge AA (using Crysis 2 Advanced Graphics Options) causes horrible edge flickering. The flickering is most apparent when standing still. It seems that some edges are constantly flickering back and forth across a single pixel boundary. The only way to avoid this is to disable all anti-aliasing (which looks bad for its own reasons, obviously).

Here's a video. Best viewed in 720p, you can see the flickering on many edges.

I haven't seen this problem on any other games, seems to be Crysis 2 specific.

I have a Radeon 5830, with most recent Catalyst drivers (11.5). I've also tried all combinations of forced AA settings in CCC, no dice. Anybody else seen this problem, or have any advice?

Thanks,
Mark

**bump**

Sorry for the bump, but I still haven't made any headway on this. Almost any combination of AA does this. Could this be a driver issue? Has anybody had experiences with the latest Radeon drivers being problematic?

I've seen flickering on some surfaces in single player mode. Running a 4870 single card. Didn't bother me enough to sort it out though.

4.5 GB, Intel Core2 Quad CPU @ 2.4. Windows 7. No framerate issues with the game, it runs great just with horrible flickering.

I also see that flickering. I also tried every possible solution with cfg and so (which is impossbile with patch 1.4).

I have a GTX460, 6gb RAM, Quadcore @ 2,33 GHz. Also W7 (64bit).

The framerates are acceptable (not too high beacuse of extreme settings, but steady)

Well....I think it's better to play and fight endlessly, because if you are under heavy fire, you don't have time to watch at the edges of something or the textures...

Yeah, during combat or when moving fast it's not bad, but during slow bits, exploration, or just looking around at the nice graphics, it's pretty bad. It seems that it's more noticeable on smaller detail, so if I can see down a row of buildings or something far into the distance, the whole background sometimes is jittering back and forth by a pixel. Fairly annoying.

I don't see what you are saying in the video, but when I had really extreme flashing crap in my game, I had to turn down my video cards from hardcoe, adjust my brightness, and that about it. you could try changing that stuff.

Put the video in 720p fullscreen, and look at the farthest background stuff in nearly the direct center. All the edges are quite wavy. In 1080p playing the game it's much more noticeable, but you can still see it in the video.
