Food Addiction

I feel like I am addicted to food. I am overweight and unsatisfied with the way I look but every time I go on a diet I always end up eating a bunch of junk food and getting off of my diet. I like the diet food but I love non diet food. I was on a diet for 2 months and dropped 40 pounds, then all of a sudden I did not want to eat the diet food anymore and I pretty much started binge eating again. I eat when I am not hungry, I haven't felt actual hunger since I was on my diet. I always feel bloated and constipated because I am eating to much of all the wrong things and I love to eat unhealthy food. I have been trying to get back into the mentality that I was in when I lost 40 pounds but it just isn't working. Now I can't even stick to my diet for more than a day before I cave and go through a drive through or eat a slice of pizza from a mistake at work. Then one slice turns into 5 and I feel ashamed of myself for not even being able to make it one day. I feel like an idiot because I cannot control my urges to eat. How can I motivate myself to stick back to my diet? I have tried everything. I wish I could just hire someone to lock me in a room and force me to stay on my diet for a year. I think it would help if I didn't live in an area with so many fast food restaurants and didnt work at a food establishment. Often when I am "hungry" instead of thinking "What can I make in the kitchen" I think "Where do I want to go to eat today". When I didn't have a car it was easier to stay on my diet because I wasn't going to walk across town for food and delivery charges are just idiotic.

Then quit going on a diet. Diets screw up more people's weight loss efforts than McDonalds does.

I lost over 100 pounds a couple of years ago. All I did was eat less calories than I burn in a day. I did not change what I ate, just the amounts. Helps to use smaller plates and dishes for this.

Now, some things we get addicted to, like Sugar or Fat. It does help to spend some time avoiding these foods until your body loses the cravings. I avoided any and all sugar for about two weeks. Now, I can barely eat any sweets, and then only a little bit of them. I look at a sticky bun now and think it's gross, not appetizing because of the sugar.

go through a drive through or eat a slice of pizza from a mistake at work. .

This is what you need to talk to somebody about, the issue does not seem to be an addiction to food at all. Its almost like you know eating will make you feel bad so you punish yourself for a mistake by breaking your diet.
Talk to a pro......good luck!

Diets are idiotic. What you need to do is make yourself a healty menu for the week, go to the grocery store, pick up that stuff and nothing more. Them you need to discipline yourself to not eat at work. You don't need to diet, you just need to eat correctly.

No by mistake I mean a pizza that was messed up on accident, if we don't give it to the customer we put it in the back for the employees to eat.

Eat less, and cook more yourself. Having fastfood more than once or twice very two weeks or so is bad, mkay. http://www.mindskin.com/p/340/di.jpg

I've been grappling with this too. I put myself on a diet and then after a week I'm back to eating what I was eating before. It'd be nice to find an actual meal plan that was good. Instead of, drink coffee...eat a banana for breakfast, have a salad for lunch, eat a normal mean for dinner.

By the time I get home from work and only having eaten a banana and salad and running around all day I'm starved and cranky and the first thing I do is raid the frickin' fridge only to hear, 'Dinner is almost done.'
