Well talking is always good - but I managed to play cRPGs for 20 years without quest markers over NPC's heads and without them telling me what to do, and I am pretty sure I will turn off the silly marker AND probably ignore the verbal directions they are giving me - I'm not keen on being herded through a dungeon (or quest) like a lost sheep.
Edit to add - it must seem amazing to some that people ever managed to get through a game before voice acting and quest markers, both of which are fairly recent developments (at least relatively speaking compared to the length of time I have been playing games), but you know somehow we always managed to work it out and enjoy a game without either.
