Forced restart

Right, so Skyrim just launched for me and it bunked my settings to High, obviously this is an Elder Scrolls game so I made them go to the highest they could (because i'm an idiot).
I get into the introduction of the game (the cart ride towards that little village) and it runs fine up until I enter the gates (specifically when that Thief to your right is asking for the gods to help him remove the bindings around his wrists) then suddenly my screen either goes black or goes stripey and forces my computer to restart itself.
Of course at first I suspected it may be something to do with my ego setting my graphics to the highest, so I let Skyrim auto detect and tried again, the same thing happened.
So then I tried Medium and Low settings, again the same thing happened.
Annoyingly this is not the first time it has happened! Dead Island had the same issue inside of a church about half way through the game, I couldn't talk to anyone otherwise it would do what I explained above. When it happened to my Dead Island I decided to give my computer a dust out thinking it may be an overheating graphics card, I even fixed one of my fans so that it was aiming directly at the card, cooling it!
I'm not sure if it is relevant at all, but my drivers are all fully up to date (had to update them to fix Rage, which still isn't bloody working)
Is anyone having this same problem? Or maybe any suggested fixes?
Any help would be great appreciated, like you have no idea!
