Forget "Favorite Weapon" polls!

Post » Wed Aug 31, 2011 3:53 am

Well, I'm tired of seeing a new 'favorite weapon style' poll each week and thought we could try something different: What's your favorite way to go on the offensive via spells?

the way I see it, the basic choices are a lightning/fire/frost spell, a damage or drain spell (be it against stats, magicka, or simply health), or conjuring aid in the form of an entity in your employ or in spectral weaponry.

Lighting of course. Dont sure why, maybe because my favorite color is dark-blue.
I was dissapointed by the "normal" lighting spell, but the shout that calls a storm looks really great.

those are not all the magical offences, you should really broden your definition of offensive :teehee:
i am an illusionist, i will be magicaly makeing my enemys tear each other apart (on my first magical play thro that is)
but if i have to choose out of those, i would say summoning

Conjuration is my favorite magic for battlemages, but I'm going to use lightning for my nightblade.

I'm not a magic user

I never understood the Conjure Weapons thing. You still have to be able to use them, right? As in have the weapons skill? Then why wouldn't you just get an awesome sword instead of having to conjure one every time? Seems...worthless.

I'm going to love me dual-flamethrower spells with my Dunmer battlemage switching between a long sword with a fire ball.

I wonder if we'll be able to rapidly fire flame spells between each hands. That would be awesome.

I always hit 100 on Conjuration first. The fighting isn't my favorite thing but I prefer Fire or Shock when I use Damage Spells/Enchanted Weapons and if I could add Absorb Health to the item...my little Breton could take care of herself pretty well with that. :)

I really like how it looks when you cast a spell in Skyrim...can't wait to do it.

From the choices above, Frost, but I will more likely be using Alteration and Illusion.

I like to use both my staff and sword in combination, and summoning a weapon allows me to do that fairly easily. I modded the bound weapons to actually be enchanted and level with you though, so they're definitely useful that way... I hope they're like that in Skyrim.

Favorite damage spell has to be Fire. Always had several custom Fire spells on hand, at least in Oblivion. Good for flash-frying enemy Altmer, and not many races resist it. It's a good all-purpose "weapon." However, when dealing with Dremora, Shock Damage was the tool of choice. When Skyrim comes around, though, I may stick with Fire Damage- the "flamethrower" effect is conventional enough.

Funny, because I haven't seen a "favourite weapon poll" in months.

Frost spells. The ability to slow down your opponents makes it really tactical. I love shooting ice clouds out of my hands :P

I've never really been a fan of Illusion magic outside of charm spells, so you'll have to forgive me for my ignorance. I've added "Frenzy" to the list of options now ;D

As for those who love Alteration, so do I, but we don't know yet if we can use Telekinesis offensively a la Bioshock and I'm unaware of any purely offensive Alt spells.

I may have to give illusion a go this time around. In Oblivion, by the time I found a cool frenzy or demoralize spell, it'd affect creatures that were way below my level (thus reducing the opportunities to try it out =/ )

My historical arch type has been a Two handed sword weilding witch/warlock who likes to use Frost spells of various types. Looking forward to seeing out how it will pan out in Skyrim.

its always fun makeing people kill their partners  and when they get done killing themselves you can make the survivers turn tail and run, become your best friend, or follow you into the pits of oblivion (then letting themselves go get killed  )

illusion has so many dark possiblitys

Lightning magic has always been my favorite, and now that you can have a continuous stream of spell by holding down the trigger, lightning will be so freaking fun.
