Forging Indoors... and some other silly things.

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 5:56 pm

I just built a forge in my house and I wanted to point out something very dangerous about it: no ventilation. I know it's just a videogame, but c'mon! A forge in a room with no windows, doors, or way to get the smoke out. 5 minutes down there would kill the MC! And smoke up the house.

And I also wanted to point out that Skeevers can magically get into your basemant. There is only one way to my basemant, which is through the front doors that stay shut. Then there is the hatch door, and beings rats and very unintelligent, they cannot possibly know to lift it up and walk downstairs...

So how are these vermin getting in? Are they like Jumpers from the movie Jumper? Very curious on this stuff.

Anyone else notice anything silly about hearthfire?

I'm not complaining either, just find it quite amusing and well... silly.

Rats... gnaw on things.

It's the same reason why bugs and small animals can get into a RL house. There may be only ONE entrance for humans, but we don't know about all the nooks and crannies that vermin can exploit to get into the house.

But there are no such nooks and crannies in my house. I should know, I built it with my own two hands!

Im disappointed ther eisnt an outside forge atop the armory. Kind of like alvors forge 'cept on the deck. "sigh" I wish i could choose what goes where i REALLY wanted the armor to be in the back o my flakreeth house since it has a deck. Im forced to use the storage room even though im never going to use it. This also means i cant have the trophy room. :swear:

Is there wood in it? Dirt floor somewhere? is the roof made out of metal or stone?

yeah i noticed that too there is even a slight haze above the forge, but i like to think that my cellar is a place to spark up my blunt after a long adventure.

Well we have a great house in Falkreath for sale, full kitchen and bedrooms along with storage. Sad story though, the last owner put a forge in his basemant and everyone died from smoke inhalation.

Very easy to get openings in houses even with modern materials like concrete and aluminum.
How to avoid it in an medieval house?
Lived in an hundred year old house, even the idea of making it mouse proof was insane, just add traps.

facepalm

The Dovakiin built a house in a matter of SECONDS with his telepathy, it's freakin rat proof. Especially when the house is less than a week old.

...facepalm

So basically you could care less if anything made sense? So nothing should be logical and somewhat realistic?

It's a well known fact that Skeevers are intelligent beyond their means and thusly learned how to manipulate the space time continuum so they could sneak into your basemant and spy on your children. Intellectual six offender Skeevers, real nasty stuff.

Oh sure, you built one house, that makes you an expert in building houses does it? Bah humbug!

(Also, wood shrinks and expands in heat and cold meaning you can never make a perfect seal with the construction methods used in Skyrim, things get in through the gaps, also skeevers can use lockpicks).

My children are in great peril! Maybe if I place a bunch of cheese near Pinewatch, they'll leave me alone?

So since I'm not in a hot or cold area, it shouldn't shrink. And if it shrank enough to make gaps big enough for a skeever to get in then how come my house is still standing? How come the other homes in Skyrim are skeever free? Even the ones without doors and windows don't have a skeever... or any animal really... problem.

And yes, I am a MASTER builder actually. I built my crib with the force after all.

Well shrinkage is quite common in colder environments. Nothing to be ashamed of.

Magicka, the answer is always magicka.

How come the other homes in Skyrim are skeever free?

Magicka.

And yes, I am a MASTER builder actually. I built my crib with the force after all.

You mean magicka, don't you?

No magicka is not the answer. Loopholes in the space time continuum are.

But really how can someone say it's shrinkage and say how woodshrinks when that is obviously not plausible to lakeview manor? and why would they even think of something that ridiculous? Why even have skeever or giant attacks anyways?

Ha and when the perverted giant comes to play I'll get him to shove a pike through your rear and turn you into charred skeever so I can make a cure disease potion to cure the diseases you gave my children from pooping in the basemant (and I clearly told the kids not to play in the basemant because of the skeevers and they will get them sick but no lets not listen to dad who has killed off hundreds of skeevers and clearly cannot build his house correctly to prevent them from getti.ng in.)
