Forgotten Chest at Pale Pass

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 3:44 am

I’m a newbie to any forum, so I apologize up front if I do something wrong or don’t follow the proper forum etiquette.
I’m really enjoying the game but I’m one of those folks that need to finish all the quests. The Forgotten Chest (or Ring of Keys) mini-quest has me stuck. I have found the first three chests but can’t find the last one. I have looked outside the Serpent’s Trail door – no luck. I have looked on other “cheats” and “hint” web sites. There are many excellent hint sites and a couple even did videoa to find all the chests. My problem is my terrain is different. The terrains on the other sites I looked at could be from the Xbox 360, they did not say. Almost all say go southwest or turn right looking at the door and follow the mountain side. In my terrain, when I look at the door, the mountain cliff is to my left and is too steep to climb directly. I have gone around and tried to get up the side of the moutain but still can’t find anything. I have gone to the right and looked – nothing. I have also gone southwest (turning left at the door), followed the cliff, and looked – again nothing. The terrain that I have seen on other sites has the Serpent’s Trail door on the north side of a rock formation, where mine is on the southwest side.
Thanks for the help.

Which door? The chest is up the hill, to the right of the door on the Pale Pass end of the tunnel. Follow the navigable terrain along the cliff until you come out in a fairly flat area. There are rock formations there, and the chest is near one of the rocks.

There are mountains all around Pale Pass (that's why you needed to enter through the Serpents Trail tunnel.

If you face that door from the outside you'd trace the mountains to your right (they will be on your left if you come out of that door.

I've always found the last chest very difficult to find.

You may have seen this but here is a map with the chest locations marked:

And here is more info on the unmarked quest:

Welcome to the forums! :icecream:

You asked your question on exactly the right subforum - Oblivion Hints, Cheats and Spoilers, and your question is perfectly asked. I find the best etiquette rules here are simply to be nice and be as accurate as you can.

Wise glargg and Savlian have attempted to answer your question and I hope you can sort out that tricky quest! Let us know how it works out.

OMG - I feel so stupid. I was at the wrong door. Once I was at the correct door - it was just where everyone said. Thanks much.

Indeed, but where was the http://images.uesp.net//c/c4/Fishystick.jpg Acadian?

I know the last chest can be hard to find, even for me who knows where it is. Good thing you found it :)

I've done stuff like that, too. I kind of had the feeling you were at the other door.
