Foriegn Purchase

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 5:13 am

Hello,

I have no idea where to post this so I figured right here would do. Hopefully that is the case

My wife recently returned from Poland with a copy of Fallout New Vegas for me. I threw it in and was sad to find that steam would not let me install if because the activation key was "not available for purchase in this country" afterwhich it "cancelled" my purchase. My wife paid approximately $60 CND for the title in Poland and I see no reason why, if I already have the title with the key, steam should "cancel" my purchase, as I am not recieving any money back. I hope there is a remedy that can be sorted out because quite frankly I dont want to repurchase this title.

If this is not the correct method of dealing with this situation, can someone point to the right place?

cheers

I see steam haters over the hill wearing pitchforks and torches.

Seriously though, I hope you can find someway to "convert" the key from polish to canadian or something.

Im about ready to join them with a torch...

I think its a little pointless to deny me the installation when I have a hard copy of the disk and key. I think I already know the reason (Canadian Tax law, believe it or not) so I am hoping bethesda can at least help me in converting my key to a Canada friendly one, as I have technically paid for the game.

Well although you can get advice here, this isn't the right route for official support - I suggest that first off you contact Steam (as they handle activations) via their technical support.

You can find all the links for various issues on their website here:

thanks for the advise.

contacted steam and they are basically saying im on my own. waiting for another reply from them but this will most likely be the last game i purchase with steam, and i will not be rebuying this game.

Too bad, I liked the fallout series. But there are plenty of other fish in the sea.
