While running from the Markarth guards after uh, puttting that Thalmor a-hole in the castle to "sleep." I exited the city and used the water to escape faster. Well one thing lead to another and I stumbled upon a small wrecked boat with loot!


In the boat:

*Lots of booze laying around

*Small satchel filled with random items.

*A lockbox with "Adept" lock, random loot again.

*A few gems of randomness laying on the bottom of the boat. You may have to move the bottles out of the way to see them. Mine were a Flawless Ruby, Emerald and a Flawless Garnet. Probably random on what you get.


In the water near the boat:


*More booze laying around

*A chest with an "apprentice" lock-random loot.

*The oars and debris from the boat will wash up against a wall. I found a flawless diamond under one of the oars at the bottom of the water and something else I cannot recall.

*Fish for Alchemy and Eating.


While trying to give you directions to this place would, well be impossible, I used my husband's camera phone and took a picture of where this boat is located.

The loot is interesting because it isn't scaled. The flawless ruby is important for a certain Daedra quest, which otherwise can't be initiated until high level.

When I was level 45, I spent DAYS ( not ingame days) looking for that flawless ruby!

It's down the river from Kolskeggr Mine I believe. I ran across it once, but haven't been back that way for a while on anyone else. I *think* that was the toon that wended her way into Sky Haven Temple while NOT doing the MQ....

There are all sorts of random loot locations, not counting the "Treasure Map" ones. Another: inside the sunken barrow on the north side of Lake Illinalta.
