It looks like the graphics which are used for those massive Dwemer machines.

Steam Centurion? Have you been near one, maybe it a glitch for that. I have never seen that before, try eating a soul husk? That fixed the light glitch from Soul cairn. Most likely won't work though.

You have probably been spending too much time down in Blackreach, and your character now thinks he is a steam centurion. There is no way to fix it, so I hope you have a save game before you set it off. Mind you when my first character Braggen first picked it up while exploring Blackreach I was hoping it was something like an Easter egg and there was a set way to get rid of it. But no, it is a glitch, you can acquire other effects as well, like the waterfall look. My first post here was to report that glitch, I was so impressed with it.

You could try the soul husk anyway, they were not around when I had the problem.

I would try to save another save and then reload and see if it's gone

@aussie500

After doing my own experiments, I can confirm this. This has nothing to do with Dawnguard, in fact. I tried removing scripts and using "stop magic effects" console commands, and I managed to remove most of the effects. It seems they are embedded into the savegame, and happen spontaneously.

Soul Husk did not work.

Anybody know of any console commands to remove all shader effects? Otherwise I'll have to spend an hour trying them all. :/

Did you pick it up down in Blackreach? Or can you get it anywhere? Braggen had it for a while before I noticed, it is not very obvious in first person mode in a dark place. Third person it was a shock to be steaming up the place. I do not think playing with shader effects will get rid of it either, but good luck with it.

I had this problem with steam pouring out which looked really cool. It is not DG related as this happened to me in December. Just unequip your armor.

I think it looks cool, why get rid of it?

More than likely this will fix it. I would go so far as to take off the armor, put it in a safe container, make a new save slot, exit the game, restart the system (to clear any cell buffers) and load up the character again.

For about a minute.

1. You'e right, it's not Dawnguard-related.
2. It's also not Blackreach related. It's probably a game engine bug.
3. It's not isolated to just the PC. I saw a bird flying around with the effect too.
4. Unequipping armor doesn't work. I tried the command unequipall as well, but I got a CTD.

It doesn't look like anything but stop magic effect commands work. That would take an hour. Instead I just reverted to an earlier save.

If anybody ever finds a solution for this bug, I would like to know, but I think in the future I'll just be wary and have a lot of saves on hand.

Hmm well I'm on the 360 and I just remember unequiping my armor and putting it back on. I may have not put it right back on...

I do believe it is Dwemer Specific... (; But seriously I don't remember where I was when I encountered this glitch but I think either a Centurion did it or one of the Dwarves traps/machines did it.

Spoiler
I wanna say my glitch happened in the place where there is a Centurion locked in a very far back room after you fight off waves of falmer and pick up journals of fallen researchers.... I believe this is the lexicon quest. The one where the guy locked himself behind a door.

I've never been to Blackreach or Dwarven ruins recently and this happened outside. I'm thinking it's a game engine bug.
