Found a "Werewolf Brute"

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 12:58 pm

I was under the impression that there were no werewolves in the game besides Sinding and the Companions, but I found another today! He was locked in a cage within Driftshade Sanctuary, a Silver Hand fort south of Dawnstar. His name only said "Werewolf Brute" with no ability to talk to him. I opened the cage to let him out and he attacked.

I grabbed a Silver Sword from one of the nearby dead Silver Hand and fought him. Killed him, but he put up a good fight. Didn't seem to catch Sanies Lupines from him, not sure if I can but I think I may reload a save and block to see if I eventually do.

Anyways, thought I'd share this because I'd thought there were 0 wild/non-good werewolves in the game, but I was wrong.

I see videos of people fighting random Werewolves in the wild all the time, but even at level 60, I never run into any. What gives?

I never found werewolfs roaming the wilds, but I always see one or two in a Sliver Hand hideout that are usually prisoners though.

This is actually on a level 38 character, not in the wilds though but he did attack me.

I was surprised to find a live one, guess I haven't checked out enough SH forts. He seems to be their captive so I tried freeing him, but then he tries to rip my face off :P

No luck catching lycanthropy from him, and I'm tired of running around and blocking now.

Oh there are plenty of werewolves...all companions quest related, either locked up or dead in silverhand forts. There still are zero wild werewolves, you will not encounter them in the wild.

I know right, here I'm wasting my time and lockpicks to free his werewolf butt and finally when I get the door unlocked he mauls me. Ungrateful beast <_<

If you visit those areas with Aela during the Companions questline, she may comment that (to paraphrase) those werewolves have lost themselves to the beast and can't be saved.

There is one possibility of meeting a 'wild' werewolf: Sinding can sometimes be found wandering the area between Whiterun and Falkreath after completing Hircine's quest. He's not hostile though.

In my game, he simply spawned back into his cell(werewolf form). I guess he got tired of the secluded woods and got caught. ...at least there's a floor now.
