[Mod Request] 90 FOV First Person Fix

Post » Sat May 26, 2012 5:24 pm

Skyrim is amazing, even moreso for pc users when we set the FOV to 90 (in game press ` to go into console and then type "fov 90" without quotes)

But this brings up a minor, yet fairly important (imo) issue, the player's hands in first person view are now squeezed into the middle of the screen instead of being on the edges.
I'm looking into this at the moment, if I'm lucky I'd just need to open the first person skeleton and lengthen the shoulder width, I am however running into lots of issues actually managing to open these damn animation files. Perhaps someone with a little bit of experience with animations and modeling could help with this issue?

Being able to play in 90 FOV with the hands/weapons/spells on the far sides of the screen would be absolutely amazing.

iirc, you have to add the following lines to your skyrim.ini:

fDefault1stPersonFOV=75.0000
fDefaultWorldFOV=82.5000
fDefaultFOV=65.0000

replacing the numbers as you see fit.

That seemingly does nothing, at least as far as the viewmodel goes.

Another way to do it I think is to move the camera node forward a bit, right?

I found, when I tried setting the options as directed, that Niamh's arms, in 1P, were no longer attached to her body. I would like to play in 90 FOV but that's a bit of a deal-breaker for me...
(And uncomfortable for her!)

You must do it via INI file in order to make it separate FOV for world, hands and inventory icons/books/lockpicking as Charles Crowe said. What you need is fDefaultWorldFOV=90. You don't see any effect because you already used console command which is saved in the game so in order to take effect you have to enter the map in game via TAB menu. If you use console command FOV you'll mess the other FOVs that shouldn't be changed.

Also be aware that Steam may copy the default ini over your current ini, so be sure to either have a backup ini or edit the default (with commented original lines, of course, never deleting any original lines in the default!)

@ AiTenshi1. That only happen when you start a new game. When I start a new game, I remove that save, then the game make a new save folder and reset some settings.
