FOV Reset on Fast Travel

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 6:17 pm

As the topic says, the FOV resets when fast travelling so every time you fast travel you have to set your FOV again. Putting fDefaultFOV=90 in your .ini does not prevent this. Any fix for this issue?

Are changes to the FOV through ~ console commands permanent through 1) saves 2) fast travel?
If it's not permanent through saves, then I guess it wouldn't be a good fix, cause console commands disable achievements, apparently...

Changes to FOV using the console is not permanent through saves or fast travel although the fast travel reset is only resets the FOV of your weapons/arms not the entire screen.

Apparently your game does not save the settings...

Maybe this will be a crap solution, but ... Try this anyway:

console command (~ key)

type "saveini" (without the quotes), and then press Enter. This will force an .ini save.

This works in Fallout3, maybe work too in Skyrim?

Thanks for the suggestion but nope it doesn't work. This is annoying having to retype fov 90 after every fast travel.

It doesn't seem to just happen during fast travels, sometimes (but not always) it'll happen when I am changing zones/entering buildings.

Do other people experience this problem or is it just me?

Try this, it should change FOV permanently.

* Create a backup of the skyrim.ini file
* Open the file, then scroll down to where it says [General]
* At the bottom of this section, add fdefaultfov=XX (where XX is the FOV value you want to change to)
* Save, exit, and play

Already did that it doesn't help. Can you try fast travelling with the FOV set to whatever you use and let me know if it changes? The actual amount of screen estate doesn't change just the distance that you view your weapons. Try setting FOV 90 then fast travel and notice how much closer your weapons are.

Could somebody try this and let me know if it's a widespread problem?
