im getting 60 frames per second (from what fraps is tealling me) is this normal or should i be getting more ? I beat the game already, now im taking a look at performance. It ran great.. Just curious I run it on a laptop, M18x with an i7 2.8Ghz, 6gbram, with a nividia 460m 1.5gb video card.

At 60 FPS, it synchs with your eyes perfectly. Any more makes minimal difference.

You're running it great.

Anything over 60 would be a waste unless your screen's refresh rate is above 60hz.

The thing about syncing with your eyes isn't right. It syncs with the MONITOR, which usually has 60Hz as a refresh rate and therefore 60 fps is the sweet spot. Multiples of 60 work too. 120 for instance.

Then 60FPS is ideal. It won't go above that if you have the vsync setting turned on anyways.

I'm sorry, this is correct. I assumed a 60Hz monitor =X

That's because vsync locks the FPS to your refresh rate, to give you the smoothest picture free of screen tearing and jitter.

That probably means there is a limiter in the config that locks it in, which is good. You don't want 86fps on a 60Hz monitor, for example, or you'll get screen tearing.

Hmm, I remember back in the days of CRTs, even 90Hz gave a lot of people sore eyes and headaches. I'm just glad that LCD screens don't have the same degree of flicker; I can live with 60Hz (provided there's no tearing), though 40 starts to make me feel nauseous.

There is no config to change it, it is coded into the application and cannot be unchanged. You'll still get tearing though if you have VSync disabled.
