Free alternatives to Microsoft Word?

Post » Thu Apr 25, 2013 5:21 pm

So I just bought a new computer with Windows 8, and sure enough, it does not have Microsoft Office/Word.

Since I absolutely refuse to pay the 200 dollars Microsoft wants from me for a spell check essentially, are there any other alternatives to Microsoft Word that has similar features, most importantly a spell check (red underline) and a fragment check (green underline)?

It doesn't have to be "exactly" like Word, but I just need a document typing program that doesn't cost 200 dollars. That's..lol. I'm not going to say what that is.

Not 100% sure if the spellcheck works the same though.
