just recently i've started to have freeze ups at random times in-game. It seems to occur completely at random save for one aspect: it always occurs just when a strike lands on a humanoid enemy. The sound of the strike hitting plays and music continues to play afterwards without skipping. Sometimes if I wait for a minute or so it continues as if nothing happened. Additionally, sometimes if I alt-tab out of the game the game continues the second it minimizes (I can hear sound effects/etc start up again). Other times the alt-tabbing doesn't work and i need to force the game closed through task manager.



I have reinstalled the game entirely from scratch, tried mods enabled anywhere from 49-60 in random configurations, and reduced graphics settings with no effect. I'm still wondering if it is the mods effecting it but the fact that the freeze ONLY occurs when striking something leads me to believe otherwise. I have also verified the game cache several times, the only change being that a new skyrim.pref is downloaded each time. The only changes i have in skyrim.pref are turning tree shadows on and turning vsync off.


I do have MSI Afterburner running in the background as an fps limiter. I will test with it off to see if that works next.


Any advice would be appreciated.
