Freezing on xbox making Skyrim unplayable

Hey guys,

I am just wondering if anyone is having the same problems or knows of a fix. A quick google search shows that other people are reporting short temporary freezes but I am getting full on game crashing freezing. Yesterday my game froze in random places near to ten times, I had to restart each time.

I am on an xbox360 and playing off the disc, I have put in nearly 70 hours and I am just starting the main storyline but it won't let me progress any further. It freezes in the same point during a conversation with someone after I have completed a quest and I am questioning them. I also had this same problem with the legion quests, again happening at the same point and during a conversation during the end of a quest. I tried reloading over and over but it wouldn't work so I just forgot about it but now it is affecting the main story and I really want to progress.

So any ideas? I tried deleting my xbox cache but it didn't help at all. Really gutted about this. I checked my disc and it is spotless and no other games are freezing. I can cope with random freezing as despite being annoying after a reload I can still play. The problem is with these freezes I am unable to progress in both the main and legion storyline.

Thanks.

I play on xbox off my hard drive and its fine with no freezes. Maybe try installing it to your hard-drive?

I have played a lot and had only one freeze, The frequency you are finding suggests that your xbox maybe overheating? Do you keep it well ventilated? Its a possibility anyway and perhaps worth exploring.

Thank you both for the replies.

I heard installing it gives rise to texture errors and other bugs? Is this correct?

With regards to it overheating it is just sat on top of a tv stand, nothing surrounding it so it is quite well ventilated. The way it seems to freeze in the same places makes me think it is more than a hardware error, but what do I know?
