From DM to FPS?

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 9:33 am

I hoped actually that Arkane studios could take and give us the 2nd chapter of the awesome Dark Messiah , instead I am a bit disappointed :/ ......
I think there are plenty of FPS games or stealth games , but DM was very much unique FPS sort of in a fantasy world and with all those physics applied to the game mechanics was simply superb , I especially loved a lot the Multiplayer and I hoped we could get a new one .....
But I will look foward for this and I am sure will be awesome ....

Ubisoft are the owners of the Might & Magic franchise so it's not really surprising Arkane worked on something else. Zenimax (which Arkane is a part of now) wants to do their own stuff and build up their own IP catalogue.

I think there are much too few first person sneakers :)

I was actually rather hoping for some more Arx Fatalis style game, but, I guess I'm in a minority there. ;D

Indeed I really hoped for something along the lines of Dark Messiah, on a different IP. Arx Fatalis 2 came to mind. I'm really disappointed we're going back to depressing and ugly metallic environments like City 17.

Nah, not alone at all. I was hoping for a return to Arx Fatalis as well or at least something as brilliant.

C'est la vie. Another indy studio pressured for capital and a market share benched for the same denominator.

Well I'm excited for this, it doesn't sound like a generic FPS at all. To me it sounds a lot like it the new upcoming Deus Ex: Human Revolution game in a way, which looks great btw. Since the guy who helped make the original Deus Ex is on board for this game I would imagine it to be more like that than say Half Life or Bioshock. I suppose you could make the comparison to games like Metal Gear Solid, and who doesn't like Metal Gear Solid? I'm always down for more games like this. Sure I'm down for another DMoM&M game too because you know I love the old dark fantasy stuff but with Skyrim and Kingdoms of Amalur coming out they'll hold me over for awhile, a long while.

I hope one thing they borrow from Deus Ex is that there's multiple ways to complete your objective or get to where your trying to go. We've already heard players actions can shape the world but I hope for a more stealthy approach to gameplay or atleast give us options to how we can play like Deus Ex does. I don't want nothing to do with guns a blazing but others might.

There aren't enough Stealth-y games in general. And the good ones which could've been stealthy got - ironically - "taken care of" by Ubisoft.

I hope the Stealth-mechanics in this game feature some Dark-Messiah-esque melee-combat.
