Frustrated with two handed weapons

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 6:17 pm

Every time while moving when I swing a two handed weapon, you lose control minus turning. I have swung and missed my target multiple times and even unintentionally charged off a cliff to my death. I am requesting Bethesda allow some measure of control to stop the character from charging when the attempt may be unsuccessful. I love my two handed weapons, but i am so frustrated with the swing and lose control design this game has.

And please increase the strike range of all melee weapons. My ebony great sword shouldn't strike at virtually the same range of my ebony sword of fire.

I feel your pain. I picked 2h weapons for damage, the ability to block and having to spend less perks for other choices, such as 1h/shield. I find all of the melee weapons to be rather clumsy, but especially the 2h. As for now, I can't expect that Bethesda will actually do anything about it, because technically, it's not broken, They just made a strange system. But mods will undoubtedly change in, at some point. Whenever the Creation Kit is released, anyway...

It took me awhile to adjust to melee combat with a 2-handed weapon. I felt like I was fumbling around for a good five hours or so. Eventually I got the hang of aiming and moving my character and timing my swings. Once that happened it became great fun.

But isn't two handed pointless vs dual wielding? You get 2x damage and 2x enchantment damage. DPS alone is way higher and you wont be trying to block much without the block perks, all of which seem aimed at shields.

It depends on your play style. IMO dual-wielding is only useful if all you do is spam double button power attacks. Otherwise, it's like you're just using a 1 handed weapon with different enchantments (or possibly the same). I agree about the blocking, though. While most of the ones that don't mention "for a shield" do work for other things, if you don't take block perks, blocking is pretty pointless in most cases. Bashing, however, is great.
