Frustrating if some say "Skyrim is glitchy" - Your E

Post » Fri Sep 28, 2012 4:05 pm

It really does get to me when my friends moan about Skyrim being glitchy. Yeah sure ive fallen into rocks, yeah sure ive fell through the floor in whiterun but i dont think they understand this game is HUGE, it's not a small COD map, it contains the finer details.
Skyrim map is huge and in a nut shell it would be very hard to fix every little glitch in the game, I personally think people need to stop worrying about the little glitches and worry more about actually playing the game. Skyrim is a great game which is abnormally huge, bottom line is it would be near to impossible!

Please tell me what you think about Skyrim and if any strange things have happened to you (like falling through the floor in whiterun) also i'd like to know if you know any people who play first person generic shooters and moan about the best games on the market (skyrim, oblivion etc)
Thank you very much, jeazz :P

Oblivion and Morrowind were never patched to fully eliminate all bugs.

To say nothing of how Daggerfall was when released...

Skyrim actually hasn't been that glitchy for me. The only thing I get is the very rare floating mammoth (it's only happened 4 times since getting the game) and the invisible chunks of river.

People just overreact about some things, Skyrim hasnt been out a year and i suppose there will always be those randoms glitches even though they've patched many.

Meh when its a roller-coaster ride for me when it comes to glitches. Some of them minor others downright gamebreaking. I can forgive some things but when it comes to quests that can't be completed or even started those are unforgivable.

Skyrim has been freer of bugs for me than either Morrowind or Oblivion. This may be due, in part, to the fact that Skyrim has been rigorously patched. And I imagine we can expect a few more patches in the future.

Bethesda has really improved their patching from what it used to be. Which isn't saying much because, as PrinceShroob says, Bethesda used to abandon all their earlier games while they were still buggy messes.

I really do like bethesda, they always try there best (especially now) and the patches contain so much its outstanding.

This has been my experience too. Oblivion in particular crashed quite often for me. Skyrim only crashes very rarely. I am really impressed with how stable the game has been for me, on my first full playthough it only crashed once. I got the game later then most and was expecting trouble, having read the forums. But it runs incredibly smoothly and is very stable, it is really brilliant.

I haven't experienced many glitches in Skyrim either. I had more problem in Oblivion, to be honest.

I've had more problems with Morrowind (for which I have the fan-made patches installed) than I have with Skyrim.
I guess it's just a matter of luck. Some people are unfortunate enough to have games riddled with bugs, while others have almost bug-free games.

On PS3 I was not able to complete Arniel's Endeavour because the game gave me multiples of a soul gem that would prevent the completion of the quest, I had several backwards flying dragons, and my game froze when I touched water after downloading one of their patches(though this issue was rectified, it begs the question as to how it wasn't spotted in testing...if there was testing). I did not play Skyrim on the PS3 long enough to get many of the slowdowns and lag that are apparent in the PS3 issues subforum. a search on youtube also showed this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaeU3DvW5-o

i rather have huge game like skyrim/oblivion that has glitches but you can play it for long long time than some of these games that are 20 hrs long but has less glitches, bc all games will have some no matter what

I've had some issues but nothing incredibly gamebreaking. The only time I ever had to start a character over due to a bug was because they had an arrow stuck in the shoulder and I forgot how to do it without the patch.

I've had signficantly less issues with Oblivion.

My luckiest experience with a Bethesda game has been Oblivion. Some freezes, but not many issues. Fallout 3 wasn't too bad either, although some issues with the DLC especially. Skyrim or Fallout NV are pretty much tied for me when it comes to most glitchy. I have had frequent broken quests and even perks not working correctly in Skyrim. Still a fun game, but it definitely is annoying.

I think the people who complain are refering to those quest-related glitches. Those can be REALLY annoying and sometimes game-breaking.
With me, micellaneous quests reappear out of thin air even though I completed them a while ago (these are non-radiant quests).
I get the quest "Paarthurnax" automatically (the one where you are tasked to kill paarthurnax by the blades), so I am unable to turn it down or tell the Blades that I just want to leave paarthurnax alone.
There are lots of quests that cause glitches that break the game, hopefully they will get fixed.

Oh... those are the worst.
I think the worst glitch I've ever had is when Esbern comes to ask you to talk to Delphine and him (because I had forgotten about them). Once I talked to them, Esbern would zip to wherever I fast traveled and ask me to see them again. Ugh. Make sure that when you complete the game you talk to them immediately, otherwise you may get this annoying glitch! :pinch:

Little glitches don't bug me too much, and the big ones? They fixed most of them.

snip
Little things like graphical glitches, random flying horses and all in between are fine, but glitches where entire quest lines are broken, untested DLC and so on are pushing it too far. Bethesda admitted they rushed Skyrim, as for their DLC, it's painfully obvious also.

You are buying a product, and expect that product to be quality controlled, tested, and have it's major issues fixed. You don't go and buy a car, only to have the engine not working, or the brakes fail.

I lost 130Hs and a LvL 50 character for a Bug, but it was just bad luck, skyrim is glitchy if you have bad luck.

Not to mention one important thing with Skyrim... The longer you play on one save file, the buggier it gets. So that character you invested a few hundred hours into? Expect things to get bumpy, very very bumpy. The same bug which has been going on through many titles released from Bethesda, yet it is still persists today *i had the same issue with FO3 which broke the game for me, literally*... Bethesda could have implimented some minor things to slow this problem down *save file bloating* such as weapons and shields not being dropped on death, reduced the amount of clutter about and so on *so many damn baskets everywhere!*, as well as fix ash piles ect.
After playing for 300+ hours or more and never once cleaning up weapon/shield drops, it starts to really slow down the game, and i dont know about you, but i dont want to have to worry about cleaning up after a mistake the company made... It breaks the flow of gameplay because your constantly worried that if you dont do this, it will corrupt your save file.

They've patched Skyrim a few times now, which got rid of a lot of the major glitches. At first release I experienced some really bad ones. It took me six different tries to complete the Forsworn Conspiracy due to various bugs that either did not allow me to continue, or messed up something else entirely. It wasn't a very big deal, but it's still something they should keep their eyes out for.
