Started up Rage, everything looked fine (Intro, company logos, credits, yada yada yada...).

As soon as it got to gameplay my screen resolution went into this cropped ratio, where the sides are cut off.

With my Sony WEGA (I know it's getting old) I could choose between; Normal, Full, Zoom, & Wide Zoom.

For Fallout 3 it was on Normal but yet took up the entire screen. For Rage now however, there doesn't seem to be a setting that's right. Zoom cut's things off, Wide Zoom squishes everything awkwardly, and Normal there's gap's on the side of my TV!

Is this just me and my dated TV? Or is anyone else having this issue?

Make sure you have the right setting for your TV set up on the Xbox. I believe you then want it set to Full.

It's soo weird. Everything up until the start of gameplay looks great. I mean, everything fits properly.

I'll try Full, but I believe that just stretches the sides out. Zoom keeps everything proportionate but cuts off most of the text, and indicators.
