Funny yet Odd Glitch

To start off, Skyrim is AMAZING. love the game and I am really impressed with the level of detail and passion that went into the game. I havent found any problems except for one which, while it doesnt do anything really bad, it does raise a level of 'should this be happening?'.

During my dark brotherhood quest, where I had to kill one of the first 3 contract people, i ran into my contract-kill camped out next to a river just chilling. I threatened him, told him he was going to die, blah blah blah, and we started fighting. At the exact same time, the both of us were attacked by a mudcrab. he, deeming the mudcrab a greater threat, went to it to fight it, and I took the opportunity to kill him. The moment I killed him, it said there was a 40 gold bounty on my head. not sure what was happening, I finished up and killed the mudcrab. as soon as I killed the mudcrab, it stated something to the extent that 'the witness was killed, therefore the 40 gold bounty no longer existed'.

Therefore, from what I understand, the mudcrab was a witness to my crime and was going to turn me in to the nearest guard [I assume]. I heard of the similar bug with the chickens and heard that got fixed, but I am wondering if the same thing is occuring with the mudcrabs?
Is this intentional [it would be pretty funny and cool] but if it isnt, I thought I would just give the heads up on this =)

SKRYIM IS AWESOME THOUGH! SKYRIM FOREVER! =D
thanks for a great game bethesda!
