No fur or leather shields

Why are there shields of every armour type except these two. I hadn't really paid much attention to that fact untill I started my newest character who only wears fur armor, and I'd really like a shield to match.

I suppose they could've just made it a circular piece of wood with fur/leather encasing it.
I never use shields, personally.

Hide shield is quite fine for fur, hide, studded, scaled and leather armors.

Because a shield made of fur makes no sense, it would be floppy and useless, come to think about it same goes for a leather shield. You could always encase a wooden shield in leather though (maybe wet leather to make it fire resistant) but fur is useless even as a casing.

Zulu shields are made of fur (wrapped around wood) and are quite effective.

I just hate the way hide looks with fur. Heavy armor has 6 types that fit the armor style, light has 4. I haven't used them with a character that wore armor before so I never really noticed.

Okay first off, Zulu shields are covered in cow hide, and second of all aren't particularly effective (not more so than any other shield). Finally, the cow hide is there to signify rank (rare patterns will go to higher ranking warriors) IIRC.

EDIT: But yeah, I see your point, there just doesn't seem to be any need because we already have hide shields.

Why won't you then just pick up a heavy shield? There are more of them because shields normally are quite heavy and may slow you down. Remember that armor perks doesn't affect on shields.

Yeah, but its cow hide with the fur left on, not tanned leather and they might not be more effective than some shields (I'd take a Spartan shield over a Zulu shield any day of the week), but they probably hold up better than a simple wood shield that is not reinforced with either leather or fur. They can also be made with zebra fur, so why wouldn't elk fur work just as well?

It's my cursed werewolf build, He only wears fur, and uses a hunting bow and a scimitar. He wouldn't use anything stronger than fur. While I know hide is a notch lower than fur, I just don't like the look.
