FUS RO DA = Fun, but useless

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 2:34 pm

So i think Fus Ro Da is REALLY fun (nothing like sending enemies flying backwards, like giants. Awesome) but also kinda useless, i have only managed to kill one person with it, and even that was my companion (Erandur) who had really low health :( My question is, does it have any real use other than pushing enemies back to run away and such? What do you think?

I think it's really good! Great for any ranged character and even sometimes in melee when you don't want that enchanted two hander swung by a boss mob in your face, FUS RO DA!

I use it to knock them to the ground and hit them up close for some serious damage with no risk.

Enemies will eventually drop their weapons. Can be useful. Overall, it depends on your style I guess...but I didn't tried out too many shouts til now.

Pushing high level enemies of mountains is quite useful, I also used it on a Draugr overlord i couldn't defeat, grabbed the Quest item near where he spawned, and ran like hell, I think it is quite useful actually.

It's a good move to create an opening, it also has a short cool down so it's up more than the freeze shout.

If you're fighting a Krosis, it's godly. It's saved my tail on more than one occasion, I can tell you that much.

Pushing people of ledges, knocking them down then getting the big hits.

Stopping an army in their tracks.

Do enemies actually take fall damage if you knock them over ledges, or cliffs or anything high enough for that matter?

I remember we were invincible to fall damage in Oblivion while knocked down.

I find it useful for disrupting dragon breath attacks.

I find it to be incredibly useful, especially against casters. I knock them down and them pummel them.

I like it. It's mundane, perhaps, but it does exactly what it says on the tin. Also, it lets you be unbearably smug, "Yeah, I just staggered something ten times bigger than me by yelling at it."

Useless? Hell, I underuse it. In a thick, harrowing battle... Recently, my mage versus several other mages (sometimes 2+ at once), they hit me pretty hard and I tend to forget I have it, which would have helped them stop kicking my ass.

Good for bosses, too. Screw you, Olaf.

Can send people falling great distances, can stagger if you're low on stamina for a shield bash, or you can send groups down to provide some time to crack some skulls in and lessen future damage.

useless? are you mad!? that was the only thing that kept me from getting killed by a sabor tooth cat going up to Azura's shrine. i ranged it with my bow and then went in to hit it a few times with my sword ( first one i ever encountered so i did not know the curb stomping ahead of me) with 2 swipes i was almost dead and then i side stepped it and gave it a FUS RO DA! sent it flying right off the side of the mountain. when im in the mountains that is the shout i swear by.

They do take fall damage. I don't remember being immune to fall damage in Oblivion. :o

It's all about the breathing room baby.

Big guy wearing you down? Fus Ro Da
Target trying to flee? Fus Ro Da
Trying to get past a strong enemy? Fus Ro Da
Getting swarmed? Fus Ro Da

Plenty of uses that are very practical and useful.

Haha it's fun and it has it's uses, my fav shout thus far, no contest. But Bethesda could have added some damage to it or something. Still, it's so awesome to send giants and frost trolls and what not flying. :)

It doesn't do an exorbitant amount of damage, but stuns and stumbles enemies quite well, but it's not useless. Seems as if people don't consider the fact that not everyone made the same character as them.. I play an Alteration/Conjuration Archer, and Unrelenting Force allows me to keep melee enemies at bay whilst I either fill them full of arrows, conjure a creature to take the heat off of me, or cast an alteration spell (ie. stoneflesh / paralyze / etc..).. It is highly useful for certain class types, just like certain other Shouts are to others...

Some of you guys have to realize its purpose isn't to do damage, its to disrupt enemies from either casting spells or slamming their weapons in your face. I've found it incredibly useful when I'm being swarmed by multiple foes. Using it gives me time to heal, run, or charge in and get in some good damage while they're all down.
